Tires Kubota ZD326 ATV TIRES???

Does anyone know if you could use ATV tires on a zero turn mower for increased traction? My ZD326 is terrible with the stock turf tires on it. They are 26x12-12 and I've found some ATV tires this size and wonder if they would work? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I wouldn't see any reason why you couldn't. It seems like every time I get mine stuck it is a matter of the machine bottoming out. Atv tires would also be tricky when making turns. You would run the risk of taking some pretty serious divots.

I have sold a couple of ZDs with BX bar turf tires mounted in place of the standard turf tires to customers with unusually wet areas they mow.

watch what your doing so you don't waste money with this project. Stay with a tire near the same diameter as the originals so not to screw up the deck being level.

I am wondering if wheel weights or loading the tires would help more?

I have had two zero turn mowers, and have had to change tire types on both of them due to living in a hilly area. The difference is remarkable. As stated in an earlier post, as long as the outside diameter of the tire is close to that of the oringinal tires you should have no problems.

If you have clearance around the tires you might also try to put chains on them. Just be careful when turning, you can really chew up your yard.
