Superduty gooseneck question

LOVE my B&W.... It has got to be the finest GN hitch available... I installed it myself, directions were great!. Didn't take any time at all. I have had the hitch close to the rated capacity (I think its 30K LBS.) several times... Flawless.. Granted, my 3/4 ton REALLY did not appreciate it!!!..

Yep, the toughest part of installing one yourself is the measuring, re-measuring, and measuring again before drilling the 4" hole in the bed. I've had mine installed by a shop, but have installed them for friends and customers.

ya, when i was looking into shortbeds, i was told by dealer that they only came factory with longbed trucks (due to people crushing cabs). There are plenty of aftermarket units available, plus offset hitches to allow gooseneck use on shortbed trucks. But beware, this moves the center of gravity under the hitch behind the rear axle. I'm sure this will effect the GVW that you can haul.

I ended up getting a king cab full size bed superduty 4x4...and glad i did. theres no way ill be crushing me cab  :D

I hade the hitch installed and had them put in the flip over ball. works great. wasnt too expensive to have professionally installed. the labor only cost about $120 over what i could get the parts for (hitch + 7 pin outlet in bed of truck and brake controller), and i know it was done right.

No doubt... I measured twice. Put a tiny mark where I thought it should be. Got a friend to come by and read the directions and when he came up with the same spot, I drilled the hole.
I don't think the factory could have came up with a better design!.

Yep, they make you nervous. I have installed 3 of them and it does not get any less nerve racking.

They make a product which makes cutting that hole easier. Around here it goes by the trade name Coors Light. It comes in convenient boxes with single serving sizes of 12oz. Very handy for the big jobs. I just picked up 4 18 packs of the Longneck style dispensers at WalMart yesterday.

Whereas this is an excellent tool for lowering the anxiety of drilling the hole, if over applied it increases the risk of drilling the hole in the wrong place, requiring additional application until one doesn't care.

FWIW, I have measured time requied to do certain jobs in my shop! This unit of measure is BPH.... beers per hour... for insance, when coupled to the finish mower, my Bota is able to cut the pasture at approx. 4 BPH...
