Yes, I bet Pillar figured out one big reason. One other thing the dealer said that didn't click until now is that he was trying to outdo the other JD dealer in our area on CUT's in order to keep his own CUT franchise. He said the other dealer lost his Ag (large) tractor franchise for not selling enough of them. That leaves my dealer with the only Ag franchise in the area. So I bet he's worried that JD may be looking at cutting a CUT franchise in this area and my dealer doesn't want to be the one to lose. He'd like to be the areas only large and small tractor dealer. He said that JD will take a franchises away from dealers if they don't meet certain sales goals especially if there are other dealers in the area doing better. It's all about customer support. If you can't make sales targets that also means you can't provide good support for that product line. This may also explain his agressiveness in selling a new tractor. Thanks for all the kind words. If anyone really wants to get in on one of the $750 deals just PM me and I'll tell you who to call. The saleman asked me if I knew anyone interested. It's got to be a 2520 that is 3 years old or less and in mint condition.

My theory is that there is a HOT New Model coming out in limited numbers and Deere has told their dealers for every X number of 2520s you order/sell you will be allotted X number of the HOT New Model.

I know little/nothing about Deere as a manufacturing and/or marketing company that does "Hot new models".
Given the abject FAILURE of the "trendy, fashionable, retro 8N styled THANG" from New Holland a couple of years ago
I doubt that any major manufacturer will be into "HOT New Models" for a while.
e.g. the driveway ornament segment of the market is basically DEAD !
{at least until there is a major resurgence in demand for products of the "look_it, see what I just got" type.}

In all fairness to NH, they probably had that thing moving through the product pipeline LONG before the impulsive purchase segment of the market went belly up.

JMAO BICBW, etc.

Nah, the 8N retro was an abomination from the beginning, their marketing people were just too stupid to realize it. The local Deere dealer is not able to move new tractors off the lot and they are able to sell used ones for nearly the cost of new, and Deere over produced the 2x20 series and needs to unload some of them. Plus they need to keep up their sales numbers.

The yard ornament remark may have hit the nail on the head. We know JD offered same deal last year on same model in Canada.

The CUT market may be dead for a while due to many reasons. Time will reveal the future. :thumbsup:

I havent a clue why anyone would buy a three year old machine to save a couple thousand dollars. No warrantee, loader already worn in, no "new car smell", and no free financing. ???????
