reccomended boots?

I've been looking for a decent pair of boots for years. Ironically, I got a $150 Timberland gift certificate, but found I can't wear Timberland boots because they are cut with a wide heel and narrow forefoot, and my foot is the opposite. Also, I can't wear boots with cloth innards behind the heel, since the inevitable heel lift I get wears through the inner in days. Even the top-end Timberlands are cloth on the inside. Junk. I want a good old-fashioned boot that is leather inside and out, and has a snug heel.

Ever since rappers started to wear work boots, the quality has gone to sh*t.

I wear work boots from Wal-Mart. They are usually about $45. I have been wearing them for many years. They seem to work just fine.

The ones I wear are steel toe boots. However, since the work I do puts me on my knees, I kept wearing out the top of the toe before the boots were worn out.

The last pair I got, I took to a leather guy - he does shoes and saddles - He put some sort of black rubber/composite material on the toes. The stuff wears so good, he told me if I come back when the shoes are worn out, he will un-stitch the caps and put them on the new shoes for free. This stuff has shown no signs of wearing out.

Since I am in Fl, the cold is not a factor with the steel toes.

Some good boot company's already mentioned here IMHO(Timberland,Red Wing,Carolina,Georgia). If you don't want to spend over $150 I think Justin makes some good work boots. Like their Ropers or Ranchers.
As for me I just put on my old beat up western(cowboy) boots I no longer feel they are worth re-soling(Tony Llama,Ariet,Justin).

I also have been wearing Justin workboots for awhile. They have both USA and China boots. The china boots aren't the same quality but are about $40 cheaper. I prefer the USA made and think it is worth the money.

I also think Georgia makes a good steel toed work boot.

I've saved my feet a time or two with steel toes log splitting and having them fall off the beam right square on the toes, started wearing those after my dad broke his big toe the same way and cussing for a few weeks, didn't think I needed that agony.

Here's a good YouTube video from a guy working on a timber frame house over in OR. I'd like to get a pair of one of these brands Whites or Wesco but the CFO does not see that happening.

I started wearing Thorogood a few years ago, they came highly recommended by a few coworkers. So far they are excellent, feels like I'm wearing a pair of slippers!
(Also have a pair of 20 year old Carolina insulated, still going strong!)
