Air Grease Gun - Adding grease?

How do you put a new grease cansister in the gun without breaking a sweat and cursing? Is there a trick? i have an air grease gun and it took me about 40 mins. fighting with the spring to put it in...

I'm not sure what you did or what grease gun you have, but on the only ones I'm familiar with, you pull the plunger all the way out and move it sideways into a slot that locks it back before you ever open the gun. You put the new cartridge in, screw it back together, and only then release the plunger and spring.

Sometimes that slot gets worn and makes for a fun time. It's also interesting if the cartridge is put in backwards.

Oh Man, I was uncrewing the wrong end!! I'd uncrew the back (the spring end) end not the top end...that was helpful - thank you!
