Loader Fel - 2x2 vs 4x4

Another thing to think about: it will be easier to sell your tractor if it is 4x4. Not that you are planning to sell now, but your needs may change - you may want something bigger or smaller and having cash from a quick sale always helps make the next purchase easier. Where's JohnThomas when you need him?

In the 6 months i have owned my current BX1860V it has stayed in 4wd about 90 %of the time even with loaded rear tires. Get the 4 Wheel Drive. Very easy to shift out if you do not need it, but it is invaluable when you need it!

4x4 is a big plus for both getting work done and for safety.

If I am working anywhere near a steep drop-off, even a trench or retaining wall, 4WD is engaged just for the extra braking power. Even on pavement. I can buy new tires for less than the cost of a rollover.

The salesman is right, a 2WD tractor will have much less resale value.

The other day I was carrying mulch up a very steep driveway, maybe 20% slope. I was much more comfortable in 4WD than 2WD, even though I didn't have more than 500 lb in the loader.

Thank you for all the replies. They were a great help. They in fact swayed me to go 4x4. I ended up getting a mx 4700 so the whole change only pushed my total price up 1k. It didn't take long (first hour of operation )to see you were right. Thanks again

Good decision on the 4x4... and nice tractor, that MX4700! Please enjoy and be safe! If you care to share, new tractor pictures are always appreciated on TBN.

Glad to see you got the 4x4. life is too short to go without it:thumbsup:.. especially in a new tractor. Sure the 2wd can do a lot of work, especially in the bigger heavier tractors, but in the size you are talking about.. 4x4 rules.

I was mowing my lawn yesterday with my bx23 and had to put it in 4*4 when I was turning and going up a hill. The tractor didn't want to move with just one back wheel engaged. I Moved the lever to 4*4 and drove right up. Its indispensable.

Congratulations and as mentioned, you have to post pictures, I think it is in your TBN handbook, page 6 paragraph 3.a under "If you don't have pictures, it didn't happen".

Very nice tractor, I wish they made the MX Series in a cab.
