Re: shenniu "bison 25" ??

My best guess is that you won't find any "parts tractors" or used parts - too rare, and nobody is going to want to part with a running tractor for scrap prices. I would dismantle it and qualify the useable components, make a shopping list, and start contacting the dealers.

Re: shenniu "bison 25" ??

I bought a Bison 254 in buckets for $600 about 5 years ago from a guy after some lowlife stole my Mitsubishi 2201! If I ever catch him/them I am going to bury them with the frontend loader, but that is another story.
I put the 254 together-took me 2 weeks after work and weekends, I am a master machinist by trade and grew up working on heavy equipment for my dad who was a mechanic, so I thought I knew:confused2: what I was doing. Well I got it running and then I went to work down in Houston for a few years and made the mistake of letting a friend use it. I figure she ran out of fuel then burned up the starter, then picked it up by the OROPS with her 7210 JD and 'accidently' dropped it at the edge of the field and blew out the front tires! I don't hit or talk bad to women-she is lucky.
So I am having a problem with getting fuel to the injection pump. There is a little aluminum box on the outside of the injection pump with a 5/16" runner hose running to it from the fuel filter housing. It has a small screwout dipstick with alot of carbon built up inside the housing and on the dipstick. No leaks, its full of fuel, I have checked for blockage up to the pump, loosened the injector lines and cranked the engine with the compression release on and off. Also I rebuilt the starter and solenoid and it cranks the engine at a moderate speed with an AGM 1000amp battery. Ok I will leave it at that for now. Any suggestions besides taking it to the scrapyard? I am not going to let that woman see that I cannot fix it!:confused2:

Re: shenniu "bison 25" ??

First, this thread is actually about a cracked hydraulic sump housing. It would be less confusing - not to mention more appropriate - to work one person's problem per thread. Second, I'm a bit surprised that a master mechanic doesn't recognize a lift pump and governor.

I respectfully suggest you start your own thread regarding the fuel delivery issue. And it would help if you could identify the engine make and model, even better if the pump still has its manufacturers ID tag attached.

Re: shenniu "bison 25" ??

Re Bison 254 it doesen,t matter to me if you reply about your tractor. If yours is like mine it doesen,t have a primer pump so if you are getting fuel to the main pump see if you have fuel coming from the top of it to the injectors if you don,t have enough fuel pressure there then the problem is with the pump itself . Now concerning my tractor im trying to find a used housing or broken down tractor with good housing i can buy for parts.

Re: shenniu "bison 25" ??

I was going to say something as rude as you did, but I didn't want to get banned on my second post. There is a difference between a machinist and a mechanic, but you own a John Deere. I understand, its okay. Deere people are just............I know, I understand, really I do.

Well I didn't know that I needed to make another thread. I was just so happy to finally see a few other people talking about these tractors besides me talking to myself! Thanks alot !!!!!

Yeah it seemed like a lift pump, although with the lines off going to the injector pump, it pissed fuel, but that been ever since I took the injector assembly from the bucket of oil/water/leaves/trash, cleaned it up and put it on the left side of the engine. I haven't found a primer anywheres, it would be nice, maybe I will get a bulb primer today from town. I am wondering (without pulling it apart), what is that small dipstick for on the that housing. If that is old diesel or engine oil (I almost wrote motor oil and I know what you would have said about that!) it looked like a mixture. Thats all. And if I screw it up, well I have a pump to make because I know I won't find one. Have a nice a day.

Sorry you feel that way, I'm gonna speculate you haven't been "online" long enough to have learned normal forum etiquette. I actually had an answer, had you posted appropriately. Your loss.

Re: shenniu "bison 25" ??

I will try to help here. Most Chinese tractors have a injector pump/governor that has its own oil sump. Not sure about yours but would guess 99% of them are that way. The dipstick should be for that oil. There should be no fuel in it. IF you ran it WITHOUT OIL, you may have big problems. With your level of ability I would take it off and take it apart. See what is wrong and why fuel is getting in it.

If and when you get it fixed put motor oil back in the sump. I run strait 30W in mine but some run compressor oil, 15W40, ect. Just keep the oil clean and free of diesel fuel. I change mine every 100 hours.

Now for Greg. He has owned 4 or more Chinese tractors so he does know quite a bit about them. I do not always agree with him but he is here to help. By the way, sure he does not always agree with me either. He is here to help and does know quite a bit about these machines.

Starting your own thread will get it 10 times the exposure. Many of us read them all but the majority do not read all the threads so if you start a thread with a catchy title it will get a lot of traffic and more expertise.

Good luck

Chris

Re: shenniu "bison 25" ??

Cory 70 Im sorry about the misunderastanding but i was not the one who made the comment about you not being a machinist. I have a shenniu bison 25 not a john deere. About the dipstick on your pump the guy who says its an oil stick is correct. i,d use the same oil as i use in my engine.the 25 bison doesen,t have a primer pump because the fuel tank is located on top in front of the steering wheel and the fuel free flows to the main pump.
