This maybe a question already asked but I couldn't find anything on it. When a pump is listed at CW or CCW do they base that on if your looking at the face(shaft end) or from the opposite end. The shaft i want to connect spins CW when I look at it, so I don't know if my pump will need to be a CW or CCW.

Rotation on a hyd pump is looking at the face of the pump, if your prime mover is CW then the pump you need is CCW (assuming it is direct coupled inline)

If they say that the pump is reversible, then it doesn't matter which way you connect it. Shaft to shaft connection will work like wdchyd said. You can vary the position of the pump to make it turn in the right direction by placing the pump side by side or off set, or shaft to shaft.

You can vary the position of the pump to make it turn in the right direction by placing the pump side by side or off set, or shaft to shaft.

The only problem with this arrangement is the side load......most hyd pumps don't enough bearings for an overhung load......it wears out the pumps internals for premature failure.....(some are designed for it though)

If I had the choice I'd rather take the pump apart to reverse the rotation if needed and possible....that way it can be installed inline
