front weight

i found an old toolbox and desided to mount it on the front of my 4000 to help hold it down when i have my bushhog attached. it should weigh around 100 or so pounds when i'm finished. i figure some weight is better than no weights. i've got about 40 bucks in the whole thing and its removeable incase i think up a better set up than this. i'm going to fill it with quik crete, should last a long time. here a few pics of what i've gotten done so far. its mounted and ready for paint and cement, got dark on me, i'll finish it monday.

good to see you are running them bolts thru pipe or them bolts might be hard to remove.
use duct tape or caulk to seal the pipes tot he box before creeting in.. will keep the cream from seeping into the tube.

i thought of that too, the pipe let me torque the bolts down before i put the crete in. i've already filled it with concrete and old iron pieces i had laying around. that thing is solid too, i weigh 300 plus pounds and i can stand on it and it don't move. will post pics later.

i made a flange mount and bumper for one of my rowcrops, to that I have hung cast concrete weights. sure does help keeping the front planted into the ground.

here's the finished product. its not mounted exactly centered because the steering arm comes to far forward but its close. it looks good to me. next project is the steering box. got more cornhead grease coming monday to take of the old oil staining my paint.

i filled full. don't need any tools except a hammer or screwdriver and they fit in the running board toolbox.

and since it is metal.. you can always weld to it if needed.. heck.. even weld a bumper up there to push over / deflect brush when mowing.
