Tractor
Kubota L3540
OK here is my issue, I just bought my new L3540 complete with BH. My original plan was to trade in my BX25 on this tractor, my dealer droped off the L3540 a week ago without the paper work signed and has not yet picked up my BX, so I still have time to change the deal (I apsolutely love the L so am keeping this regardless). I have a little more than an Acre lot, I know the L3540 is overkill but I liked the stability of the tractor and the cab as the winters here are very long and lots of snow. I have a water front that is quite steep and will be mostly grass, my plan is to teer as much of it as possible to level areas for mowing. The dealer will give me 13,500.00 (3 years old 100hrs mint) for my BX with rear snowblower on trade, the tax is not an issue as the BX went through our company so no real tax advantage on the trade. I know I will need a mower for the property and it most likely would need to be 4X4 for safety and convenience, obviously the L is to big for this application. Should I keep the BX and add a mowing deck to it?

So by Keeping, are you saying buying it off company? The decks run in the 1700 to 2200 range. I am sorta in the same boat, and have found no buyers for my used BX 23, so I might have to Keep it, and sell the B3200 in a year or so, after I get all the work its going to do, sell it, and just have the little bx

I think I would see if he would trade a BX2360 with MMM for the BX25 or doing a private sale and then buying, $13500 sounds low on a 25 with 100 hours.

With all the incentives and 0% financing, it's kinda hard to sell a used tractor. I'd either keep the BX25 and spend the 2 grand or so to get a MMM. OR, as TripleR suggested, trade the BX25 for another BX with a MMM. In fact, you may even consider a GL lawn tractor.

Or trade the BX25 for a F3080 (4wd) for your mowing needs on steep property. You will then be covered for mowing and with the L covered for tractoring.

Agree. Almost all of the use 'Bota's around here were going for 75-90% of new. And I'd have to lay out the $$ up front. Versus 5 years 0% interest. It really does hurt the used market a bit unless you want to pull your $$ out. I prefer to keep ours in the bank and just repay as I go.

It's a tough call. spending up to 2k for a mower deck for BX or a RFM for L. or trading in all together for F series. Or go with a el cheapo tractor for a few years.
No matter what you pick, since its less then 2 acres, I have a funny feeling you might be changing your decision in a few years from now as you test out your decision.

So I was thinking that if I kept the BX, I could sell the Backhoe (92) from the L series after a few years as I would have very little use for a backhoe once the landscaping is complete but would still have the little backhoe on the BX.

Cross that bridge when you come to it in a few years. I also believe the trade in on that 100 hour 25 is far too low, but if the dealer will work with you on a trade for a F mower, that'd be great. My advice is patience, patience, patience. I took almost a year to sell my BX. I was in no hurry. It sure wasn't gonna depreciate. Wham!! I suddenly two guys who were the right (CASH) buyers and I got far, far more than wholesale trade in for it. Time is on your side in my opinion. I'd not hurriedly rush anything and take a few grand hit to the wallet. There's no panic here.
