That's not a payoff. That's a refi with another lender.

Amazing how many people don't get this, it really doesn't matter HOW it was paid off. The point is, Chrysler no longer owes money to the US Government. Their debt to the US taxpayers was paid with interest.

If someone has $8k in credit card debit at 20% interest and refinances their house at 5% to pay it off, they PAID OFF the debt to the credit card company. It doesn't matter where the money came from.

Exactly. But so many are determined to be mad about government loans. Sometimes the facts just get in the way of a good rant. :laughing:

They paid their government loan and turned it into private debt. Private investors now see them as a good risk. They are making money and building cars here. Cool. What part of that is a problem? We can still go buy a genuine Dodge truck with American axles and a Cummins diesel engine in it. Seems to me it proves that they were worth the risk to the taxpayers and many workers remained employed because of it.
