TU1700
Hi all. Im so glad I found this forum as I didnt think my tractor was as popular as it is :)

I own a TU1700 and have had very little problems with it in the past. When I bought it I was told that it had the ability to add a pipe to enable me to tip a trailer. I was told that it was a simply job of undoing a nut on the side under the seat. Adding a pipe and then when I activated the 3 point link arms to move to the top. When they got to the top the oil would then pump through the pipe and tip the trailer.

So I did this and took the nut bung to a hydrolic pip makers and had a pipe made. Took it home bolted it in, puller up the 3 point link arm.. they got to the top and then.. nothing.. it does nothing at all. I checked oil levels and they are fine.

Can anybody help? Have I been given duff info? I can get some pics of what I have done in the morning but I hope somebody will help as I really need to tip a trailer I have. (I know the trailer works as it tips fine on my David Brown 996) its only a 1 ton trailer.

I've never heard of anything like this. To operate a separate hydraulic implement usually requires the installation of rear remote hydraulics with a separate control valve, which must be what your David brown has. What you describe is kind of the same principal but at the same time very different. As you describe the way the system is supposed to work, what would stop the hydraulic flow once the hydraulic cylinder is fully extended other than simply popping a relief valve...or what would give you partial control of the system ( Say you only wanted to extend the cylinder half way for example)? What is supposed to retract the cylinder, letting the 3 point lift arms down? The only thing that I can think of that might make this work is if you lock out the 3 point hydraulics somehow before using the "trailer hydraulics" A lot of tractors do have a 3 point "lock" of sorts and I'm pretty sure some Jinma's remotes are kind of set up this way.

Many tractors have hydraulic ports like you described that can be used to supply hydraulic pressure for remotes or a front end loader, etc. The port you tapped into may very well supply hydraulic pressure but I can't imagine that the 3 point control valve is it's "control device". Do you know if you even have pressure at this "pipe"? You can either crack it slightly loose and see if you are getting high pressure flow or better yet...much better, put a 0-3000psi gauge on it and see.
Pics of everything would help also.

Thanyou for the reply. I am simply following the instructions gave to me by the person who sold me the tractor. I have cracked the bolt a bit and lifted the arms up. This does pump... well more like dribble fluid out. I have also raised the arms and then let the fluid run and done the nut up to prevent any air being in there. Aparently the way it works is you crack the arms to the top, the fluid is then diverted down the pipe and the trailer goes up, then you lower the arms and the fluid comes back down the same pipe to let the trailer go back down.

Maybe better starting from scratch. How can I add a tipping pipe to this tractor? You mention about another feed. Should I be looking at installing this? Is it easy?

I'm going to take a shot at understanding what you want to do. When you lift the three point arms, and they reach their limit, at which point the hydraulic system by-passes back to the tank. You want to use this by-pass to operate another cylinder that will tip the trailer. Is that the idea?

I guess yes.

I just want to tip a trailer lol When i got the tractor the bloke told me .. just add a pipe here and it will tip the trailer when the arms get to the top position then gravity will drop it back down again.

All i want to do is to reverse up with the trailer on the back and do something that makes it tip then drive off again lol

Is the person you bought the tractor from still available to get more info from or demonstrate it for you?
I am not sure what you are trying to do but would love to see some pictures of it in action.

yes i spoke to him and he said he would do what I have done. He told me to check for air by raising the arms with the pipe loose. When it pumps oil out do it up tight and that should be it

You can cut the pressure line & put a valve in series with the 3 point. This way the trailer tipping will not have anything to do with the position of the 3 point. I've done this many times when installing loaders.

Could you give some more detail on this? Is this an easy job to do? I really need to be able to tip this trailer as at the moment the work im doing is too tight a space to get my big tractor into to use the tip function on that.
