Ok guys I am new to site and would to say thanks for this great site. I have been reading post and spending lots of time reading your comments. Here is my deal.....I have 30 acres in NC and I am ready to purchase a tractor. I will be bush hogging, plowing, and general dirt moving. I will be a weekend warrior when it comes to tractor work. I have narrowed my search to a NH Work Master 45 or a Kubota MX4700. I will be using the 0% 60 months deal that both companies offer. The New Holland only comes in Shuttle Shift but the Kubota is Hydro Tranny. I like both and only $25 a month is the difference in price. Both have loaders/4x4/rear remote. Both have same HP at engine and PTO.

Can you guys tell me the pros and cons on each before I sign the papers?

thanks for your help.
6 acres to mow, 5 acres of food plots, the rest of the land in trees. 1000' of driveway to scrape. Lots of projects.

I can only comment on the Kubota.really like the HST but shuttle is a good compromise. The Kubota loader is very powerfull..make sure to load the rears AND BALLAST.With mine (loaded tires and box-blade on..have popped the rears with a full heavy load in the bucket).

Honestly, a lot of people will skip the workmaster 45 and go with the 55 for jsut about $1200 dollars more. You get a little heavier/bigger tractor, 10 more horsepower, turbo, 3 point has draft control. just fyi i PM you too

Also consider the after sale support from each dealer.

Is the NH Synchro Shuttle Shift or Hydraulic Shuttle Shift?

My preference is HST, but Hydraulic Shuttle Shift comes pretty close.

Sorry; don't know that much about NH.

Can't help you on the comparison with the NH.

I went with the MX5100 FEL 4X4 etc because of the included fully adjustable 3ph. I can only tell you that for me it is a lifesaver when hooking up or unhooking various implements. The FEL is strong. I do have the rear Ag tires adjusted outward for better control on hilly terrain and they are loaded. I have never had my rear tires come off the ground with a fully loaded FEL except when trying to initially break loose something with the FEL otherwise it is extremely stable.

You may want to consider getting a 3rd function remote now (when new as part of the purchase negotiation) rather than latter for the grapple or thumb in the future. Also shop local but give Barlow's a call for comparison. Good luck and enjoy the prospecting journey.

Like the age old debate Kubota VS. Deere, it really boils down to which you are more comfortable on, which you can get a better deal on, and mostly which dealer you get along with best.

The brands are essentially equal in prestige, reliability and availability. Their dealer networks are equally established and supported by the brands. The individual dealers will bring their dealership in a position of preference over another dealer, not the brand. Personality and attitude will make the difference here. Pick a dealer that is established and has a good reputation in the community. Check out how they deal with people at sales, parts and service. Each of these departments will become very important to you at some point in your relationship.

Once you have the dealers you feel like marrying (This could be a life long relationship afterall) decide what features are priority with you and which tractors fit you the best and start dealing. There will be a mix that satisfies you the most and that is the one you buy.
