Crane Accident

It appears the ground didn't give out from under the pads and maybe they should have waited to set the unit before filling it with water (jk). Shouldn't that crane have had counter weights? I guess I should have asked: Do you guys want me to put those counter weights on or are you going to try it without? lol. Glad nobody got hurt.

WOW I heard the operator going off yelling at the end.
Food for thought is that most commercial policies dont cover weight of load from the policy word for word
'we' the insurance company do not pay for loss caused by the wieght of a load which under the opertating conditions at the time of a loss exceeds the registerd lifting capacity of the equipment.
There are specialty companies that cover crane/overhead lifting liablity but there are still no coverages if operator overloaded the crane or unsafe operation.

Oh sh**t is right. I would have did it in my pants if I was that crane operator and that thing went over.

Appears with the extension, the load exceeded the ability of the crane to handle it.. It stood up proud, and intact. What was that snap sound???

Its been a whilew since Ive run a big crane but I run a boo m truck regularly. I cant load the vd now but the pool in one pic I ve seen that crane should have handled it. I bet an outrigger sunk or slipped off a pad if any were used. Saw a tandem axle Sterling with a big boom on it going to set a billboard down in corinth MS. It was an NES rental boom truck that shouldnt have been rented to the two tools using it. It was wet and that ground is poor in that area. They parked the truck in the Cattails and didnt even put a mat under the outriggers. When they did the pick they had the point sheave about a foot past the center of the load. THe load was a bit much for the boom to at that angle. It drove the rigger on that side into the ground and the board fell it stopped when the boom hit the top of the bill board posts. It wasted the boom i may have a few pics of them somewhere.
