Russian or Chinese Tractor?

I would not buy one. I would rather have an older domestic tractor than a newer thrid world country tractor. Just my opinion.

Aww Guys let him try an off-brand tractor..those guys need to eat too. FTR, my son bought a belarus, yes it needed the wiring re-done and a new starter, but he is happy...Chinese seem to have trouble with rubber and seals, so the owner will need a tool set...BTW is Kubota considered domestic?? They been here a long time and I can buy most parts anywhere about like a Deere? JY.

I believe the OP (MeadowbrookEquipment) sells grey market and other off brand tractors as a one man outfit in Maine.
Probably just trying to stir up some possible sales through TBN...

I for one have a Chinese tractor and have had great luck with it. 850 hard hours and just a few issues, most caused by me. Parts are easier to get for my Jinma 284 than for my Ford 861 Powermaster, my other tractor. I would do the same thing if I had to do it over again.

easier to get parts for the jinma than the 861?

Is that like saying mcdonalds french fries are easier to get than burger king french fries, if you live 1 block away from mcdonalds, vs 2 blocks away from a burger king? :)

i have about 3 barns of fords that span a similar series, ie.. 55-64 year models.. all the basic 4 cyl design.. IE.. all using very common parts... I can sure tell you there aren't any hard to find parts for an 861.

In about 10 minutes, with about 5 emails I could order an entire 800 series, by part or assembly and have it shipped to my door via freight.. assuming I could pay for it. :)

heck.. I've bough entire machines that were running but ugly, just to park behind the barn to use as 'living' parts donors if one of my good runners ever needs something asap, and I don't want to weigth 3 days for ups.. or run up 1 hr away to the NH dealer or tractor supply.

I live less than 20 Minutes from N-Complete so I can get parts but getting parts for the Jinma is even easier. I have ordered parts from Texas (Affordable Tractor) by noon his time and had them the next day by noon my time with normal shipping.

I have no problem finding parts for either, not that either need many anyway. I am just stating that Chinese tractors are not hard to find parts for. No harder than any other brand if you know where to look. I maintain Case, JD, Ford, and others equipment and can honestly say the Jinma is by far the least expensive and easiest to get parts for.

For example, I needed a new starter for mine. I had replaced a JD starter on a 5 year old machine just a year before and had to wait 3 days and pay 4 times more compared to the Jinma.

how much was the chinese starter? a ford starter should be less than a dead president to buy OR rebuild. last one I rebuilt was 80$ with tax.. last one I did myself cost brushes and bushing and some time.. might have been 13$ ?

fords just don't strike me as expensive machines to get parts for compaired to the other colors. in fact.. i don't think I'm going too far out on a limb by saying that the 39-64 fords are likely the cheapest antiques to get parts for, with the single exception being the ad wd series.. plenty of them and they are cheap. complete running working units regularly go for 800-1200$.. probably one of the best hp to $ machines you can buy in good condition. ie.. a running working N is usually at 1000-1200$.. and I have certainaly seen running working wd in the 700-800$ range :) just too far for me to drive to get them or I might have a few. in maintaining my red, orange and green antiques I am much happier buying ford parts when it comes to price.

go price the rear hood cowl on a AC G model... will set you back more than the entire tin and fenders on a ford. and we are talking about a piece of metal about the size of a cat litter pan. add the hood to that and you could buy a running AC WD :)

all that said I'm not saying the chinese parts are expensive.. just wondering if they are gonna get the life span of some of these different models. ie.. at 800 hours if that jinma needs a starter.. well.. when compaired to an antique that may have had the same starter for 60 ys.. the 800 hour one looks kinda like infant mortality.

speaking of mortality.. did jinma ever address the issue of putting a relief valve near the hyd pump so that if a qd camp unplugged it didn't eat hyd pumps? last time I was reading the chinese forums that seemed to be a unfortunately quite common ailment.. and one that should have been, or could ha ve been remidied with a safety valve on pump, or a hard line from the pump to a valve block with the relief there, and then if you needed to t in for a loader via a soft lina and a qd.. then you would be good to go.. making it where you can break the hyd line before a relief is a bit of a dangerous gamble in design vs cost.. since at the build level.. what could a few feet of hose and a pop off valve add to the cost of an otherwise fully built machine... what? 15$ maybee?

Or he's trying to move into selling Russian tractors but before he does he wants to see if anyone here has had one.
