When i brought my backhoe home I only got a 12" toothed bucket and decided a 24" ditching bucket would be very useful. So i removed the bucket and drew up prints and over the last month at work and home i now have a new bucket that works great.

You really should post this on the Build-It Yourself forum. Very nice, wish I had one.

Looks great.

How thick is the steel and what did you use to cut it?

Thanks guys
As for your questions,
No teeth it does a great job when you only want to skim off the top and leave a nics clean bottom thats undisturbed.
I used 1/4" plate all around with 2x 3/8 edging on the cutting lips and 1/2" on the mounting.
As far as cutting it out I use our high preasure water jet at work! it helps when you have access to a full machine shop.

Great job on the bucket. It looks like a factory original, just without the teeth. There are times I wish my bucket didn't have teeth for those nice smooth cuts but sometimes harder rocky ground needs the teeth to help with the digging. Apparently Bobcat has bolt on teeth for their loader buckets. This was posted in the Bobcat forum. Maybe if you needed teeth at times, they would work.

A high pressure water jet sure does a nice job compared to a burning torch. If you could use your work equipment more often, you probably could start a little business making buckets. I'm sure there are a number of guys that would like a smaller or larger bucket.

What would you estimate the cost of materials for your custom made bucket to be?
And about how much labor time did it take to assemble from start to finish?

Thanks!:)

Nice job.
