Hey guys I just bought a 135 diesel with multipower and diff lock and it seems the pedal is stuck down or I just don't know take off the diff lock. Is there any trick to it or is something broken? Thanks for the help.

Nothing unfortunately. I did try slowly turning side to side as I crept along forward but that didn't budge it either. I didn't try doing that while pulling up on the pedal though which I may try. It seems pretty stuck in there.

The shaft that runs from the engagment pedal through the transmission housing could possiblily be bound up -rust etc... try squirting some penetrating oil on the shaft and work it around to see if it will free up

I have a 1964 MF135 diesel deluxe with multipower, no diff lock (it's an option on the deluxe model).

The operator manual has this disengagement procedure:

1. Declutch the tractor
2. Turn the wheels to left or right
3. Lightly depress the right brake pedal.

The diff lock pedal should be adjusted for 1/4" space between the pedal and the step plate (floor of the tractor) when the diff lock is completely engaged.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replys. This is my first tractor with the diff lock, I would say that the pedal is down around 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch from the step plate now and won't budge. It will be another day before I can go over and check it out and try some of the stuff you guys have suggested. If for some reason (worst case scenario) it won't come out what am I looking at, tearing down the differential? Any harm in letting it stay like this? I really appreciate all the help and making a new guy feel welcome.

Yes. It can do major harm to the rear end if left engaged.

Well that may hamper some plans for the weekend if I can't get it fixed, dang. I'm gonna try my best to get it out, if I can't I will have to wait for my I & T manual to get here.

If you never plan on turning the machine you will be in good shape! Being as its locked in diff lock both rear wheels have equal power distributed in forward and reverse, so thats why it makes turning near impossible. It is a pretty good job to remove the diffrential if you have a major problem (removing the trumpet housings, etc..) But my money would be on the engagment shaft bound up, let us know what you find!

Ok here goes.... So I originally thought this tractors diff lock was stuck because the pedal was stuck all the way down and wouldn't budge but I' begining to think the pedal is stuck but the diff lock is not engaged. I came to this conclusion because I accidentally left the break lock on and tried to move the tractor and one tire started to spin but the other didn't and I'm pretty sure that if the diff lock was on that wouldn't have happened. So now the problem seems to be the stuck pedal and the diff lock not engaging. Does that sound right to you guys? I really appreciate all the help and I'm sorry for being such a newbie, none of the other tractors I've used or owned had a diff lock. Thanks again everyone.
