I just replaced the volt regulator on my Ford 641 tractor (1958, 6 volt) because the old one wouldn't register a charge or discharge. The new one showed charging at about 10 A immediately after I started the engine. Ah ha, I thought, solved the problem. After a few minutes of driving I noticed the ammeter needle bouncing between charge/discharge and in a few minutes more it deadlined and the generator light came on. bummer Is the regulator blown? There were no instructions about polarizing the regulator as I had done years ago when I previously replaced it so I did not polarize it. Did that screw it up? Any ideas?
