I just replaced the volt regulator on my Ford 641 tractor (1958, 6 volt) because the old one wouldn't register a charge or discharge. The new one showed charging at about 10 A immediately after I started the engine. Ah ha, I thought, solved the problem. After a few minutes of driving I noticed the ammeter needle bouncing between charge/discharge and in a few minutes more it deadlined and the generator light came on. bummer Is the regulator blown? There were no instructions about polarizing the regulator as I had done years ago when I previously replaced it so I did not polarize it. Did that screw it up? Any ideas?

seems like you dupe posted this message in the NH forum as well.

that makes the threads difficult to follow.

I already posted a detailed response there.

you might want to take a moment and read the rules of the site.. they generally don't reccomend multi-cross postings.
