looking at older 20hp 2 cyl jinma

just because I don't have enought to do.. plus one popped up in a local add for less than 2k$.. suposed to start and run good.

I believe it is one of the economy models.. like 20hp, 2wd, 2 cyl.. like we saw early on at the homier shows back for 2900$

any one got any info I need to keep inmind when going to look at one.

might make a neat toy project I have in mind for my farm property.

Chris, you have been toying with this idea for years... might as well go for it! the little 2wd Jinmas are solid perfomers, lack of front end loader eliminates many of the issues some experience with them. $2K for a tractor that sold for 3K 7 years ago shows the resale value of these tractors is comparable to majors too! We have had customers run 5' brush hogs in heavy grass on these, makes some black smoke, but dosn't stall. Look for head gasket issues (water in oil, oil in water) free play on clutch pedal (clutch problems are not common on Jinmas without loaders). If the battery is blocking the radiator, be sure to use the smallest battery you can, and block it so it cant slide back against the radiator. It will be fuel effiecient, powerful beyond its rating and easy to get parts for.

emaile dthe guy for a tel # and he left a plain respons of 'see my craigslist add ; ( I had seen his add on another classifieds site ).. I hit craigslist inthe city he specified and no add i got another email into him'

at the price he listed it for.. sub 2000$.. if it runs.. a 4x4 would be nice.

i have the wrench skills to keep it going surely... even if it needed hand holding I would assume..

Probably bogus then if there's multiple listings.
We have the FarmPro 2420 and I have to say if you use a tractor for less than 100 hours per year or are just planning on toying around with it then it'll be fine. These things are what I'd consider to be a "hobbyist" tractor. You have to be ready to work on it and not be afraid to fiddle with it regularly. And that two cyl engine is not smooth and it swings the 5 foot finish deck in moderately high grass pretty well. And it will work the tractor right up to overtemps conditions. You have to watch out for that.

uh.. if I can't fiddle with it with my background and keep it running.. then it's a total piece..

this is the usualy level of involvement i have with my tractors i bring home...
