My new 2520 has been running ok for 8 days. Today while backing up I thought I was seeing smoke and my heart sank. I aslo noticed wet leaves and realized I must be leaking something. I immediately stopped and saw what I beleived was hydraulic fluid dripping from one of the power steering hoses. I started the tractor and thought if I turned the steering I would be able to identify which hose was the culprit. To my surprise it was leaking not from either hose, but from the bottom of this unit I have yet to identify.
There is a spray coming out of a pin hole leak on the pipe very close to where it is welded to some sort of round metal cover with three screws that I can feel (with the tractor off). I imagine the smoke was the fluid somehow hitting the hot engine or exhaust ?
My dealer is closed for the day so I will call in the AM, but I would like to be able to intelligently tell him what the problem is.
That's the high pressure line from the pump and it's a factory defect. I bought a new 2720 and after 25 hours I had the misfortune of having mine blowing fluid all over the place. I called my dealer and had him check it out , At first they didn't want to replace it so I told him to be ready to take the tractor back and refund me my money. The leak was a split in the high pressure tubing which is rolled and electronically welded. some how they blew the welding job, However the real problem is replacing the line. Its a major pain in the butt to get the old one out and get the new one back in place. Please have your dealer do the job and save yourself some grief.
PS My leak was on the other end of that same line where it goes into the SCV . What a pain!
