I need, NEED to get one remote to the back of my Massey 50... Its time to cut hay and my sickle mower keeps breaking down, my neighbour loaned me his haybine but I have no way to lift it at the moment. Can I run a hose from the adaptor plate on my rear end to a quick connect, so that it will lift the haybine when the 3-pt. arms come to the top? This is just a temporary thing, gotta get me through the summer so I can sell the hay and buy the correct diverter valves etc... to put a proper remote hookup on the tractor. Thanks..:)

You need to tell us more.

What do you have now for hydraulics?

Do yo have a hyd pump and 3pt?

Do you have FEL and 3pt.

If it is an open center system, you should be able to insert a valve is series with the hyd flow.

Do you want to operate SA cyl or DA cyl?

sorry I wasn't more specific in the first post. At this point, All I have is the 3pt., and the standard ferguson system pump from that period. I have no idea if it's open or closed center. Is there any easy way to tell? Pardon my ignorance, I've never really had to deal with hydraulics much in the past, just on my splitter and a couple implements at work. It's just a Single Acting cylinder that I need to run, to lift an old haybine up and down. And a guy I know may have a line on an FEL for me, if I get that It'll have it's own pump, I may run an extra line to the back for a remote or two. Thanks for the input :)

It's been 35 years since we used a single action cylinder on dads old MF50. I removed the fittings when they started leaking years ago, so I don't have any way of taking a picture....

But....You can tap into the internal hydraulics and control a single acting remote cylinder with the position control lever of the 3-point hitch. Very simple, and very economic to do.... Down side is, you can't use 3-point AND remote at the same time. The 50 is essentially the same as a TO35/MF35.

The port is a (can't recall if it's 1/2" or 3/8" pipe thread) plug on the side (edge) of the lift cover very near the lift control quadrant. (allen head plug)

MF50 is a low volume/high pressure system. Seems like flow is less than 4gpm, but more than adequate for the needs you mentioned. No need to over complicate the issue.

There are some other things that are food to know. System pressure and hyd flow in GPM's.

You will need to know if it is open center or closed center for the correct parts to use .

Since you have some hydraulics, and probably open center system, you could add a single or double spool valve to operate a SA or DA cyl. and that valve would feed the 3pt.

The last link is a stacked valve where yu can mix and match exactly what you want.

I know you can get a diverter valve that bolts to the top of the trans to allow you to run a regular valve and give you dual acting remotes, I just can't afford to throw $400 in hydraulic parts on the tractor right now ($100 for the diverter, $180 for a 2-spool valve, about and 4 quick connects at $30 apiece) My boss gave me one quick connect, and a line, i was hoping to be able to just run it straight from the lift plate

A little further info.....All you would need to install is a 1/2" X 1/2" (or was it a 3/8" X 1/2"???) street ell, a short piece of 1/2" hose (w/threaded fittings) roughly 16" long, and a single female quick coupler.
