North Cackelacky...FINALLY.
Tractor
None right now...
We currently have a MF 40 industrial with instant reverse transmission and FEL,it is a well worn example of this model and has a few issues. It also has shown itself to not be well suited to bushhogging our land.

Found a Ford 6610 4wd for sale down where we used to live,4800 hours,no doors or roof:)confused:) on the cab and according to the seller, rough looking but runs well.Asking $5000.Needs tires by the pics.

Now to our place.
We have 17 acres, hilly land (to us) that is overgrown with brush and pines. Will be selectively clearing out trees, putting in fencing, keeping it all cut down so it is actually walkable and the like.

Too much tractor?
This tractor fits our price range as well.

After emailing the seller it has too many negatives from the get go.

actually.. tires look ok.. and 5000$ for a 6610 ( II model maybee? ) 4wd ain't bad.

mind you I don't know all the negatives that were told to you. they could for sure be deal killers.. just dunno.

hours aren't scarry on a machine that size. should do double that easy as long as it has had good maintenance.

heck a piece of plywood and some fiberglass will fix that roof.. :)

Missing all the 3 point gear, missing the doors and roof.
As to maintenance,well...seller said it sat outside for 6 years with a bad clutch before he bought it three years ago.

Do you think it is too big for the size of our property?

that's the nice thing about them big diesels.

as long as it has clean fuel and hot battery.. it likely 'started' up fine after setting for years.

again.. the roof and doors would be a total non issue to me.

the setting for years would only be an issue IF it had running problems. If it has been run a few months since setting and has no other problems.. I'd call it ok. Sounds like it has a new clutch.. that's a bonus.

the 3pt stuff missing. that's not an issue per-se.. but rather an expense. I'd try to find a set of gear off a salvage tractor of similar size vs buying new... AND verify that the 3pt worked. if the 3pt didn't work.. now that would be an issue..e tc.

as for the cab....10 minutes with some 7/16 osb board and a saw and you can cut a top to fit, then caulk it in after fitting it with angle iron tabs if needed, then paint it, or put some of that roll rubber matting on the top if you don't care how it looks.. or go nice and lay some fiberglass up there and then sand / blend in to the FOPS, and then paint.

doors? if it has AC i gues I'd build / find doors for it. if it ain't got ac.. I'd forget about the doors unless you were dusty-plowing all day long in which case I'd again.. make some doors out of 7/16 osb, cut windoes and use plexiglass panels for the windows, and then paint the doors up blue, and make whatever latch and hinge hardware needed to close the doors... add weather stripping.. etc. again.. with a bit of work, it wouldn't look redneck.. using that tough liner style rubber paint will seal the wood good and get rid of the wood grain.. or you could use fiberglass on the wood doors too.. or find a junkyard set.

as far as size on your land? about 82 engine hp and 72 pto hp? :) sounds good to me.

I have about 20 tractors :) one of them is a 7610s at about 95 engine hp, next biggest is a 5000 at about 70 eng hp.. etc. then the bulk of the rest are in the high 40's hp range with a few in the 34hp range and a few in the 10hp range.. :)

i got 13.2 ac... :) using my math..and you have 17 ac.. I'd say you could use a 110hp tractor and be fine.. :)
.. plus have a few extra helper machines.

the 4wd is just icing on the cake.

Thanks for the info/advice.

Is the cab bolted on to the tractor? In other words, could it be removed?
I guess it is part of the ROPs?

I might try and take a look at it while down there this week.

i'd almost say that is a fops.

I'm not nearly as familair with the models past 1975.. and don't know if you could remove the cab AND RETAIN the fops. might be able to add a rops.. etc. just dunno.

RickB is likely the man to answer that one. them tractors are too new for me.. most of my stuff is pre 65, with only 4 units from 65+.. 3 of those 65-78.. etc.

If I were going to do what you say you wanted to on hilly, treed land, I would do all the clearing work with a crawler type machine and not a wheel tractor. Buy or rent a small cat to do this. It's so much safer on steep ground and they are shielded so you won't put stick through the radiator or rip off a hose , etc.

Once you have the place cleared and all the rocks and logs pushed and dragged to where ever, sell it and get a wheel tractor with a wide stance to maintain the place, build fence, mow etc.

I had a wooded place and working with a wheeled tractor was a pain.

I'm not sure exactly what that is, but it is not a 6610. It has a flat operator's deck, so it is a 67XX (no turbo) or 77XX (with turbo). The remotes look to be closed-centered, so that would make it a 6710 or 7710 instead of a 6700 or 7700. Although the missing roof makes it hard to tell for sure, it looks like a Series I cab, so the year would be 1981 to 1985 or so. But, the front axle is the tricky part. It is hard to tell from the picture, but it doesn't look like a normal ZF 6710/7710 axle as the hub planetaries don't seem to stick out enough. It also looks like the tie rod may be in front of the axle? The somewhat rare 6700/7700 "Blue Power Special" tractors from 1980 had the tie rod in front of the axle, but I think they used the older open center remotes still.
I wonder if it is some sort of an aftermarket conversion?
