I'm in the process of getting quotes for a pole building to be used as a garage. So far I've contacted 64 Metals, APM, and Morton. I've been waiting a week to hear back form Morton and they have not returned either of my phone calls. 64 Metals came back with a quote over twice the cost of the APM just in materials. Has anyone dealt with APM? How was the quality and customer service? I'm located in north central WV, are there any other companies I should consider?

Not sure where north central WV put's you but there are a TON of guys in PA that advertise in the "Lancaster farming" paper and they have a web site with most of there advertisers listed, in this economy they may be be willing to travel a little extra.
I have a guy that built one for me when he was based in MD and he moved to Romney WV and I have lost touch with him, if you are near Romney pm me for his name. Morton is a good Co. and from what I've heard they stand behind their product, just don't be supprised when you come home fron work on day 2 and there finished! You will wonder why you didn't build it. Good luck.

I'm actually in Preston county near Bruceton Mills. I have a couple friends that have Morton buildings and I really like their work and quality. I'm thinking pretty hard about the APM kit and having a local contractor put it up for me. I'm looking to build a 32x48x14 and thats more work than I can tackle with my work schedule.

I had Cleary put up a 36 x 64 metal pole building for me 5 years ago and have been very happy with it.

My cousin purchased a kit from Menards and hired a contractor to put it up. He ended up a few thousand $ cheaper than mine. Either way might be a workable solution for you.

Good luck and keep us informed regarding your final decision

Is Bruceton Mills any where close to Friendsville MD? I thought I'v heard my MIL talk about it.
Any way, I think that you might get more for your $$ if you were to just buy the necessary mat. (shop it around). It kinda seems that these "kit" deals are for the people lacking the ability to do a lumber take off. If you or a buddy have done any building, a "pole" bldg. is not that complicated of a bldg. Maybe your guy that you have to build it will give you a hand. I have heard that if these "kits" are not built exactly as designed you'll be short on lumber and even worse, metal. Sorry, I've been building so long that I take some things (building knowledge) for granted that some one not in the trade will stumble on. I'd just like to see you (possibly) save some money! Do your home work, ask for a sample or to see some of the design details of the AMP pkg. as well as the provided instructions. Ask your contr. to look at them to see if there is enough detail, after all, it's nat hard to blow $200-300 bucks at the lumber yard, but it will grind your backside if you thought that you had bought a complete "KIT" again Good luck.

I have a Morton 40x60x14 clear span shop that is 20 years old. Never had any issues and still not any leaks. I don't know how good they are on price or quality now but mine has been a dandy.

Rustyiron, I'm 2 exits west of Friendsville on I-68. I built my first pole building last year, a 16x20 for my tractor. I made several mistakes on it but I learned what not to do from them. I considered doing it my self but I travel a good bit for work especially over the next couple months.

I'm hoping Morton gets back to me pretty soon and gives me a reasonable quote. I like their buildings but I'm on a budget for the project.

Thanks for the responses so far, keep the ideas coming.

Still no word from Morton. Guess I'll be calling them again tomorrow. I Should be meeting with the contractor this weekend about getting him to build it or put a kit together.
