I put my truck in Park... it doesn't move - it's solidly stopped! Same with the car; the van, etc.

When I put my 5075M in Park - it will move... actually it will roll or begin rolling - if I don't step on the brake!

What's with that??

It has a 16x16 PowrReverser transmission. I really am liking the new transmission and have started getting the hang of never using the clutch.

But, I'm beginning to wonder if I don't have a problem with the Park (or no Park), though. Guess I'm gonna have to get with JD and figure out if it's just an adjustment or something more serious.

watch out, you don't want to break the pawl. Hope you haven't already.

That issue crossed my mind... However, it was like that from the moment I picked it up from the shippers - although, I didn't think alot about at the time.

I've only got 30 hours on the machine right now and nothing harder than running a tedder!

Does the tractor have to be split to repair the Park pawl?

Thanks.

AK, I know nothing about how that system works on your tractor and can't look in JDParts now...But I have to wonder if it was damaged during the long trek up there to you. If it was not secured well and was rocking back and forth while in Park?

Just a thought...If that could be proven you might have a claim against the shipper.

Kenny has a good point. It's always been my habit in trucks and cars to set the emergency (parking) brake before putting the transmission into Park. All the time I see people parking on a hill and simply putting the transmission into Park. Then when they let off the foot brake the car rolls and slams into that parking pawl. A heavy tractor like yours probably endured a lot of unknown movement during shipping, and could have sustained damage then.

Hopefully it's only an adjustment. On my tractor the park pawl engages the gearing for the MFWD.

1*I always use my foot on the brake pedal so the brakes are on .
NEXT I put it in park and pull the E brake then take my foot off the brake pedal.
2*That is a very bad idea.
Really puts a lot of strain or pressure on the pin.
3*That's where you can break something when you go to yank it out of park.

*I don't understand why they don't make tractors the same way.
**I don't like that about my BX Kubota either.

That actually is the way I do it. I just didn't state it correctly the first time. The real point is to make sure the park brake is set before releasing the foot brake.

I looked at the maintenance manual and there is an adjustment for the park bracket. It maybe it is just not going into park. Maybe on an off chance it is just this.

Thanks, I take a look at that. A couple of things that I noticed right at the moment I sat in the seat for the first time... 1.) It was a royal PITA either to get the tractor OUT of Park or INTO Park. 2.) The gear shift lever was very scratched up at the spot where the lever is supposed to slip into the metal Park cradle.

*Yeah getting it out of park can damage the parking pin if you don't do it that way.:)

make sure your tractor has park some of them were released with no park just hand brake and when there is no park its just a blank put into console. make sure there has not been some confusion in manufacture like this. you could be missing a blank in console

No hand brake. I thought there should be an "Emergency Brake" like in a car or truck - but nope!

Have also noticed when the transmission is in Park the tractor will move slightly whenever I shift the PowrReverser into Forward or Reverse.

Wondered if there is a small adjustment or calibration the would make it very difficult or impossible to shift into Park or rather "engage" and hold in Park.

Hauled the tractor into the local JD guys, yesterday. They're pretty backed up with "beach tractors" that are used to harvest salmon in Cook Inlet and the hay producers are goin' huckily buck, too!

Hopefully, they'll get it back to me before I have to bale up my last field...

AKfish,
I just found this post. Glad to hear you've taken it in. On the M series, Park means Park. Mine doesn't move in park. Yours shouldn't either. Hopefully, they will get it fixed soon.

Got a call this morning (Sat.) that my tractor is fixed! Whooee, Yes! Seems that the linkage was WAY out of adjustment - by a combination of 1" 1/2" by 1" 1/2". Head mechanic says someone was WORKING on shifting it REAL hard!

All I know is that it didn't shift right from the moment I sat in the seat....

So, it's never really ever been in PARK - since I brought it home.

That's nice to know... can't break it - if it's never been in gear.

Mechanic says the charge is minimal. I'm not real sure what that means... if this is my dime or it's a warranty charge.

Likely to have a detailed conversation about that!

So, how did it come out? Have you got it home yet?

I would want warranty to pick up the actual mechanical work. Not any delivery charges nor cleaning if caked with mud.

Have you found out anything?

Tractor's home. Raining real hard here the past 2 days. Finally let up this afternoon. Trailered it home from the local dealer.

They readjusted the Park bracket. Loosened the mounting bolts and re-straightened the bracket - that's it. The bracket was so far out of alignment with the transmission shift pattern that it was virtually impossible to ever shift the tractor into Park. Thankful that the fix was a very simple one; nonetheless.

Haven't finalized the bill - yet. Not alot; but, they're expecting me to pay the full amount. No mention, at all - if the repair/readjustment should be a warranty issue.
