New Holland TC29D
I purchased a house with acreage and a TC29D was part of the deal as well. There isn't a owners manual and I'm not familiar with the identity of the moving parts. Anyway, there was a hydraulic log splitter on the tractor. I lowered the log splitter and now I am unable to raise the three point hitch to move the log splitter. The controls on the right side of the tractor that lowered the log splitter will not raise. Is there a trick or another switch to engage to raise the three point hitch? Thanks for the help!

Welcome to TBN.

Is the tractor running, with the RPM at least above 1500 rpm? The tractor needs hydraulic pressure to lift the 3-point hitch.

Where are the hoses to the 3-point attached? If they are attached to a rear hydraulic remote, the 3-point hitch will not lift if one of the remote levers is thrown all the way to one end (and it remains there in the detent - the position it would be in if the log splitter was being used.) Remote levers should be centered when not being used.

See also TC29 Operators Manual. This machine can kill you if you don't follow the proper procedures and operation.

You cannot raise the 3PH when the log splitter is running or you are using a hyd. remote valve. Stop the splitter and center the remote lever. Then, try your 3PH.

Chris, I just read all of your post. I first read only the first sentence, but now I see I'm just repeating your good advice.

Okay? What are you calling the remote lever?

See DocHeb post above, There should be a lever that controls the Hydraulic Remote connections to the logsplitter, That lever likely has a detent, (the lever stays where you put the lever and does not return on its own). You need to move that lever to the center position out of the detent position so that hydraulic fluid is free to flow toward the 3pt lift again. This is why your 3pt lift hydraulic cylinder does not work, because the fluid is diverted by this aux. remote valve/lever being in the detent position..Look for the lever for this control valve on one or other fenders of the tractor.

I call mine Fred, but you may call yours Levi the lever.;) Sorry. . .

There are normally two levers associated with a 3PH log splitter. One is on the tractor and the other is on the splitter. The one on the tractor normally looks like the illustration below. It's a lever that works a valve that is attached to two quick connect fittings at the rear of the tractor. Those fittings are where the splitter hydraulic lines plug in. Normally this lever has to be pushed to one limit and held in place with a bungee so that all hydraulic flow goes to the splitter. If it is not centered, the 3PH will not work. Does your splitter not plug into those kinds of lines? A photo would sure be helpful if you can take one with your cellphone or camera and post it.

The other valve on the splitter does not normally come into play because it won't operate unless the remote lever on the tractor is engaged.

If you do not have a lever and quick connect remotes at the rear of the tractor, how is your splitter hooked up? Can you disconnect its hydraulic lines?
