Another Tractor on the Road Accident

Bird...

As usual the media generalizes things. It's a spray buggy, not a tractor.

I deal with, should I say, idiotic 4 wheelers all the time. I run roads going to hayfields and for some reason homosapiens are in a hurry to get nowhere excep to die.

Every year, I run at least one idiot into the ditch without fail.

These are tough calls for police/fire/EMS too. One of the articles said there was a CISD(critical incident stress debriefing) planned for emergency personnel. I have been on some tough calls, but nothing like that. Those engine/rescue crews were working up close for a long time to free the survivors and those that died. That, is a really hard call to respond to.

It is just so sad for all those involved.

Please have these families in your prayers. This was a case of a drunk driver murdering 5 people. I feel bad for all those innocent people including the poor i-witness that will be seeing the horrible accident play out in his mind for along time.

Thank you for pointing that out! You are so right. I've withnessed a bloody accident where someone died, but nothing like what that scene would have been. Thank you for all of those that responded. I heard about this first on the radio driving home. When I heard 5 medical helicopters and 1 ambulance, I knew it had to be really bad.

Yes, I've been on quite a number of accidents with fatalities and some murders. It's not something you soon forget, and nightmares for awhile afterwards I'm sure are common.

Yeah, there have been some bad accidents on the PA Turnpike NE Extension recently...A couple of weeks ago they landed 6 helicopters ans sent five or six ambulances to a really bad wreck. Apparently a car went off the overpass...Just yesterday two were ejected on the Turnpike in a neighboring township...

Getting back to the OP, it is very said for all involved...

That brings resources from long distances. There is one Helicopter based 9 miles from me. The rest would come from 30-50 miles. For 6, probably coming from closer to 100 miles.

I was involved in a fatal collision not long before I retired when a car pulled in front of me. A Trooper friend of mine, Lonnie, was the first to respond and man was I glad to see him and then the ambulance crew.

My vehicle was facing the other and I saw what they had to go through and my hat is off to all Law Enforcement and First Responders. I worked with them for many years, but it was almost always after the fact and all I had to see were the pictures.

I talked to Lonnie later in the hospital and could tell it had affected him. It never become "just another day at the office" no matter how long you do it or how much you see.

Thank God we have people willing and able to do it.
