iN THE DARK???
Due to the extreme heat this week and the grass just loving the greenhouse-like atmosphere I saw little choice but to attempt to mow after sunset.
I had thought that my 2210 had decent lighting until now. Good lighting I should say as long as you want to go straight and have nothing off to the sides. I have a rear facing light which allowed me to back up. However turning and trimming were a nightmare I don't care to repeat. What's more, turns around trees with the front facing lights giving me a view of spinning scenery was giving me a not so mild case of vertigo accompanied by nausea.
The apple trees were another matter entirely. Ever been hit on the head by an apple? That hurts! Each time I tried to carefully manuever around an apple tree to avoid the ROPS knocking apples off the branches I would be unexpectedly smacked from behind by a fruit-laden limb!
Fortunately the heat wave is about to break tomorrow. The extreme humidity has done well to preserve the 3 inches of rain we had last week so the grass is growing quite well thanks. If the heat were to continue I would have to mount some cheap fog lights somewhere around the platform area to be able to mow after dark.
I see there is an auxiliary light kit offered with the new 1026 tractor , and I hear the State Lottery is back in business... Hmmm, thinking CAB and A/C....

Side note; the garden is doing fantastic! Greenhouse like weather has caused the tomatoes to grow to almost 5 feet and the sweet corn shot from 3 feet to 6 feet and silking in less than a week!

Just curious, what are you calling extreme heat up there?

I'm up near Mega.....and this week has been a pistol up here. Temps around 100+ and a dew points up around 90+. I think the heat index is around 115+...or so. Maybe not your worst days there.....but pretty severe for our neck of the woods. Our lakes are gonna thaw soon. ;)

Huh, that is warm for even us down here. I live 20 miles from Gulf of Mexico and I can deal with the heat, I just wish I could get rid of the humidity, hope it cools down for y'all up there and if y'all get a chance send us down an early cold front if you have enough to go around:)

and little rain

I'll see what we can do. ;)

With this heat and humidity.....when we get rain we get some pretty severe weather. Man, we have had a few mega downpours lately. Friday I had to drive 200 miles during a major downpour....nerve-wracking.

Seems we have so much extreme weather the past few years.....:confused2:

It wont be long and we can whine about the cold.

Those apple trees are vicious. I had to laugh when I saw your post title because just last Friday while bush hogging, an apple branch got caught on something and then let go. I never saw it coming, sucker punched me. I still have a scab between my eyes, lucky it was just above my glasses.

My apple trees went wild for about 20 years in the woods, so the branches and limbs go in all directions looking for light. They are boogers with those little stubby twigs where the leaves and fruit set.

That heat is making its way up here to Maine also. Friday should be the worst, 90* and 62% humidity is the forecast. That's about as bad as it gets here. We need rain too.

I was in Minneapolis in the summer years ago. I couldn't believe how hot and sticky it was. Step out of the airport terminal and it hits you like a wall.
Dave.
