We're not just talkin', we're walkin': We gave up our Kubota dealership to deal Kioti

Last I heard, Kubota's share is up an average of 3-4% nationwide. Its in the low to mid 50's under 50 PTO Hp. If anyone is loosing share, its been New Holland in this transition to LS. Not trying to brand bash here, but Kioti,Bobcat, Mahindra, Cub/Yanmar, LS, etc have a combined market share thats around 10-15%. Deere, Kubota and New Holland continue to make up 85-90% of this business, its been that way for a long time and I personally don't see huge market forces that are going to change that much. (maybe Bobcat, depending on their long term commitment to the product)

Your about to see a press release from Kubota that we just sold their 1.5 million'th tractor, the 1 million mark was almost exactly 5 years ago, thats 100,000+- tractors a year. You can find the production & exports of many of the other small companies by looking at their stock reports.

Wow....That is an impressive sale number for Kubota.

I wonder how many tractors Deere has sold over the past 5 years.??....Anyone.??

I don't think anyone is arguing JD v Kubota sales numbers.

Oh, I saw a thread a while back on sales worldwide of Mahindra v John Deere and it seems there was a lot of information on there, but I don't know how accurate any of it was.

TripleR...In all due respect, I am just wondering.

My mistake; sorry about that. Since you brought it up, now I am wondering too. I need to look that thread up.

One of the things that would be "troubling" to me would be the inclusion of the "John Deeres" from the big box stores. My brother in law has one and it works great for him, but I really don't think of it as a true John Deere. Raw numbers would just confuse me and I am too lazy to try to figure out how to get or interpret that number.

In spite of owning mostly Kubotas I really like John Deeres. I got up in the cab of one of our renters' 8000 Series a year or so ago; very nice. I have way more pictures of their tractors than my own, here is one I really like for some reason.

EDIT: I just found the thread, but haven't gone through it yet.

I bet that was nice, I have never operated anything bigger than our 8540. I doubt I could have driven it, but sure would like to be turned loose in the middle of a big field just for grins.

Guys who run those things for a living amaze me at what they can do with such a big piece of equipment. They run a Woods 180 with a 7000 Series in places I can hardly believe and never so much as touch a post, building and yet trim right up to them.

Good thoughts Jinman. We did not carry the whole Kubota line up. Had we been construction and everything else it may have been a more difficult decision.

As for Bobcat; it gets interesting. I had been trying for 3 years to get a Bobcat dealership. The closest dealer to us at that time was 1 hour away and we live in the GTA (ie 3.5 million people).

They did finally call and say that they were willing to look at us. By then we were well on our way with Kioti and we felt that we would be better off working for the manufacture rather than a company that only had a 5 year contract.

Right now it looks like a good call. We suspect that the Bobcat deal won't be renewed which is why Dae Dong has entered into agreements with Landini and McCormick. It isn't reasonable that this would have happened if all was well in the Bobcat deal.

I am old enough to remember Toyota being a big joke in Canada. Who's laughing now. I think / hope that Kioti is the emerging brand as Toyota was.

Cheers,

Welcome aboard. So if that happens, parts won't be an issue, how about warranty??

Right, I didn't think of the lawn mowers being included. I would like to see the number of CUT's on up, sold over a year or, 5 years.

TripleR...I have a lot respect for you. When it comes to tractors you show no bias what so ever. When I first bought my JD, the Green sent my pride right through the roof. Having owned it for a couple of years and being a member here, my bias has subsided, a little.:D

I dream of a new tractor all the time, mostly Green. But, right now, I look at Mahindra's as much as any other brand. Compareing costs can also push me to look at the "darkside" though I don't think Deere is always more money.

At any rate, there are many brands that offer features and quality that compare to Deere and Kubota and you are often the first to mention that.

The Deere that is posted above...I can't imagine being in that rig makeing the first pass on a 500 acre field. It is truely amazing what mankind has built in such a short span of time. And to think the Shuttle program is no longer a USA project, it makes me wonder where the private sector will take space exploration.??:confused2:

Sorry to hijack the thread....
