That Cobramatic, it is made by lindie right?
No, they're made by MK Products, I also think Lincoln is attached some how. That Cobramatic, it is made by lindie right?
Huh. A spool gun and a push-pull feeder. No wonder he is asking so much. Still I think he is quite high.
Hmm from the pictures I would have thought it was a lindie product, I guess not.
I think SA has a Linde feeder on top of the CM feeder.. All this is on top of a Linde? MP machine.
But here is my question. This is the wire feeder.
The wire feeder is a Voltage Sensing type. I get generally how that works (attach extra clamp to work and it picks up the contact from there). My question is what is the purpose or advantage of the Voltage Sensing style? Does it work better in certain applications? And which ones? I don't really need the portability of the suitcase welder, but since that is what it came with, so I'm going with it.
Oh - yes - it welds fine. There's a couple flux core beads in the middle right there. I was flying blind on settings at the moment, but I got it close enough to prove it works well. And a 3/32" 6013 above it to prove the stick function works well too. 0.045" Flux core was in the machine and I have no gas so I just used that as is to test. Spatters a lot. Was just going to prove it works, not pretty (yet).

The main advantage of wire feeder suitcases is increased production. You can get a lot done fast.
The purpose of the little wire and clamp on the feeder is to power the drive roll motor and power the contact solenoid in the machine.
Ive used these machines a lot to weld just about everything. Mild steel to inconel. You can run as small as .023 wire all the way up to 5/64. Ive mostly used them with .045 DualShield II70S, 1/16 8000NI2 and Shieldbright 309.
With the XMT you won't need to worry about the CC setting. The CV setting will produce a superior bead and higher quality weld. With .045 wire I run any where from 24.5 up to 28 volts and around 250 to 300 inches of wire.
Hope this helps and have fun with your new toy,
Toby
Do you have any idea what wire is in it?
