Annoying low hanging tree limbs

I use a Stihl HT101 pole saw that extends to about 11' long. I can also stand on the plywood tractor roof I made & cut branches very high. With that combo I can cut branches as high as about 20' above ground.

Also, if you cut right after a rain, the water weight on the leaves & branches brings the branches down to you, & once dry they spring back up even higher away from you.

You guys that can get wives to help with outside chores better treat them very well. Those girls are rare. I cant even get mine to get on the mower much less the tractor. Only got her in the Kubota RTV by blocking in here golf cart with it so she had to drive it. I think she may come around to liking the RTV but never get her on a tractor or lawnmower since our land is sloping a bit, she claims to be scared it will turn over but I am thinking MAYBE that is just a ploy to not have to get out in the heat and mow.

Definitely, listen to those guys!! I have a cab on my DK45SC, which protects me from the branches, but the cab, and other parts, take a beating. Last year I lost the radio antenna, the slow-moving-vehicle bracket and the bucket level indicator rod to branches. This year (so far), I managed to mangle the cab lights (which no longer work) with low branches.

In my open-station, low branches (and my driving) have taken out both of my fender mounted lights, a pair of glasses (never did find them) and a few hats.

I can sometimes get my brother in law to help me.(thats him in the bucket). But he can't always be around. Wife saw us doin this and just turned and walked back inside. "know I can't stop you but I can't watch either". Good point about the wet limbs!

New toy time!! Got a Limbhog last year. I love it. It is a bit hard to make "Tree Dr." appoved cuts, but it is plenty good for farm and government work. Use it mostly to stop tree encroachment into ag fields and pasture. Also use it for some of my trails. I use mine on a Skid Steer but the hydraulic requirement would allow use on most tractors. Tractors would not be quite as manuverable, but would likely be a bit more stable.

I have a pair of by-pass loppers mounted on the inside of the rear fender. As I drive along and see an offending branch I can reach them and usually nip without leaving the seat.

That's what I do. Early in the spring I will hook up the bush hog and start working the field edges. I remove the canopy mounted on my ROPS so I can easily reach overhead branches. I carry a bypass lopper and a hand saw. I also have my FEL and bucket on so I can push/lift/move things in my way. I go real slow, stop often, and trim from the seat or standing up.

I need one of these pole saw things. What do they run?

The only thing that ticks me off more than those low hanging tree branches is having my Husquvarna chain saw take 35 pulls before it starts. Hate the dang thing. Wish I had bought a Stihl.

Has anyone devised a good way to keep the low hanging tree limbs or large bushes from coming in and hitting you in an open station tractor

Even worse with a cab tractor....lol

I carry loppers and I'm constantly cutting limbs.

When I do hay, in the spring, prior to first cut, I run the perimeter of the field with my chainsaw on my quad and play Paul Bunyon.:D

Headache rack.

Or if you don't need to keep a 2 ton log off your head a good machine shop should be able to tie some limb risers into your ROPS to keep limbs off you.
