I get guys asking me "Whats involved in making a part" or what tools do you need to do this or that ? So seeing I haven't posted in this section for awhile and i had a small hub to make for a lime spreader I thought I'd document not all but a few of the steps it takes along with the tools needed to build a replacement hub. Hope everyone is have fun this summer welding and fabricating. Cheers! ;)

Very nice work!

What brand of positioner do you have, and at what RPM's will it turn? Can you Tig weld with it as well as Mig?

Thanks guys. I got the positioner from the provided link. I also purchased the quick change chuck and mounted it on a hydraulic lift. I like the set up. It's after getting me plenty of work. Here's some more photos of the set up. I used a Millermatic 350P to do the welding. The postioner is used a lot for Tig as well. Thanks again. Paul

Thanks for the link;), I bookmarked it. I've been half azz looking at positioners for a year or so now. I'd like to buy one, and a JD Squared type tube / pipe bender. But I have eye surgery next week, so my welding days may be over, have to wait and see how the surgery goes before buying any more toys.

Love Machine Shops !!!!

Ya me to but never considered my shop a machine shop. I always looked at it as just an automotive repair shop but now that I think of it :confused2:

Hay , i saw that exact same hub at surplus center for $5.00.

hehe, just messing with ya. great job. beautiful weld also. I have a friend/neighbor with a similar machine shop set up in his shop. He builds some nice parts...amazing work. But i do not think he gets paid nearly enough for all his efforts and skill. If he raises his prices..he gets no work. its a tought market out there
