Texas Heat!

A welcome break as it finally stayed under 100* yesterday. 79* this morning at 4:30 and almost a little nip in the air. Still need a good ole East Texas all day rain.

I hope the rain again ventures across the Red River, Charlie. This morning at 6:30 AM, it was 73.4 F at my place. Last night, my wife talked to a friend who lives about 7 miles northeast of us. They got a solid 2" rain from that storm yesterday. Our 1/2" was great, but 2" would be enough to green up lots of hay fields and provide another cutting before fall.

This is why folks should have their own rain gauge, in my opinion. So many go on what the weatherman reports on TV for their area, which is many times completely false for their property. For a couple bucks you can't beat the accuracy. We have an electronic one that we use in non freezing weather that sends a wireless signal along with temperature and wind data to an inside control panel. It can even be hooked to a computer to keep all kinds of historical logs as well as put a readout on the monitor.

Absolutely Ron I agree on that we regularly get different rain and temp readings at my place vs what the little airport outside town says we get.

The radio and TV report on what they say I swear its just a harbor freight handy dandy weather station on a pole is the extent of their capabilities and the fact they look outside and go off that sometimes.

The stress on the trees and grass in this area seems to become more noticeable each day. And another very noticeable thing is dry, brown grass spots in nearly all the green grass that's been watered, including my own.

Cross your fingers North Texas!! I see some rain coming for a lucky few:thumbsup:

Right now the radar makes it look a little too far north, but I see the NWS is forecasting a 30% chance tonight ad 20% tomorrow so I guess we can hope.

Still no rain here since June 22nd. I think only about 4"-5" all year.

Houston is 20" below normal.

My last rain was June 21, but I got about 7 inches in May, so 16.42" for the year. So maybe we're not as bad off as you. Of course, we had wind and hail with the rain in May and the roofers are still replacing all the roofs in the area.
