Someone told me Mt Washington was one of the deadliest mountains in the world ?? I have not checked that on google though.

It's the weather. Changes in a heartbeat and many do not prepare for it and pay dearly.
I was there maybe early nineties. First day we got there, foggy, nothing to see. Next morning, everything iced up, still foggy. So, we checked out the hiking club (forget the name), thought we would check out some of the trails. The weather broke and we joined up with several others to hike to the top.
I am tall and like to "power hike"on rough terrain so I had no problem clamoring up the talus but it beat my wife up pretty good so we thumbed a ride down. Lot of hot brakes!
Wind was blowing like 60 mph up at the weather station which is quite mild I understand. Highest recorded wind something like 231mph?
We left the next morning wearing T-necks and wool sweaters but were down to shorts by the time we hit CT.
PS, just remembered. That trip we had gone up to the Rangely Lakes area in Maine then went south along the Andrew Scoggins River into New Hampshire. Good time for sure!
