I just read on Orangetractortalk everything Kubota, That the problem is probably with the hydrolic fluid and or filter. If you have a jerky 3 point hitch, you should change your hydrolic fluid and filter. Also on my L 3000 DT, there is a knob under the seat that controls the rate of the 3 point hitch, try adjusting that is you have changed your fluid and filter and it still is jerky.

I think its a weeee bit more complicated than that. The internal valving and or valve adjustments appear to be at fault. Kubota denies any issues.

Gordo had it right you just need to remember to wash the hydraulic fluid off your hands after you change the oil and filter so your hand doesnt slip on the 3pt lever. Just changed my oil and filter and when I get my bath next sunday I will let you all know how smooth it is:laughing:

More like buying something that isn't right to begin with. The salesman doesn't tell you there's been a lot of complaints about them, mine certainly didn't.

The only way you catch the problem is if you already know about it, or if you try an implement on the hitch before you sign the bottom of the page.

I looked at 2 new (or near to new) L3800's this past week. Neither was what I'd call smooth, but both were marginally better than mine is.Sean

Sean :
Like someone else said before on another related thread, the jerky 3pts are just a built in feature to get the dirt off phd auger when drilling. :(
Still like my L3400DT she'll probably out live me too !

I'm pretty fond of mine too, Boone.

If I could just break her of that one nasty habit it'd be a match made in heaven..:)

I stated this in another thread. I test drove an L3800 this past weekend. It was jerky not as bad as allot I have seen on here. I talked to 2 dealers near by me they both said yes the standard L series have a problem and that they can put and older 3010 I believe it was valve a direct bolt in valve and it will make it 90% smoother. The dealer I went and test drove the tractor at said he just sold one 2 days ago that he put the 3010 valve in before it left the lot for $400.00 dollars installed. Ok that being said here is my problem kubota will not listen to their dealers... or customers.... saying there is a problem and the answer kubota says if you want a smooth hitch buy the more expensive Grand L is total BS. A standard feature for a tractor should work no matter if its the economy or the expensive tractor. I mean LS sales a 3038 with front end loader for 14,425 plus tax thats $4,000 cheaper than the L3800 i looked at and somehow they manage to make a smooth 3ph. I just had a moment of wanting a new tractor which I am now over for now. But when I am back in the market for a new tractor I hate to say it but Kubota is off my radar. If a company will not admit to a problem and stand behind their product then they are not a company I want to have any dealings with no matter how good the dealer is....

So what most of you are saying is, it is not dirty hydrolic oil: and filter strainer , its more internal. Thats good, I wasn't looking forward to changing my fluid and cleaning my strainer anyway. I guess I will just have to live with the problem.

"Jerky" is very subjective. I have seen some of the videos on the web abut this issue and it is obvious in some of the videos (not all, and no, I have not wated this one in particular) the operator is trying to make them jerky to prove his point. Long and short of it is this: Compare it to another machine (same model) in the same conditions. If yours is very different, then there is probably an issues. If not, then it is what it is. Again, there are 10s of 1,000 of L series owners who are not complaining, so either some are broke (jerky) and need to be fixed, or the operator is either doing it wrong or expects too much out of a small economy tractor. Just a few thoughts.
