I'm going to need to purchase a 47 inch snowblower with all the items for it, including the quick attachment device, chains, weights for my x744. Should I expect to pay full retail for any accessories for my Garden Tractor or not? I know when you buy new tractor with accessories, the Dealers will knock some off the Retail Price?

That is a question to ask your sales person at Deere. Depends on how much they want to take out of their pocket for you. Like a salesman said to me once, "I need to feed my family". I didn't take those words lightly, and you can take it for whatever.

Maybe it is time to trade up and get the package you want, with a deal for everything included.

Check out eBay and Craigslist for blowers for your x744.

I would think the same could be said of Automobile Salemen, but I do not see many folks paying full price for an automobile. ;)

I know 'some' people who make it a practice to ask for a discount on almost everything. Be surprised how often it's available if you just ask. :D

I'm just trying to find out if discounting accessories is common, but deprive some poor Salesman's family food. Of course, selling $3200.00 accessories in one day is probably better, even if you have to discount it a bit, than no sale. Can't feed a family on making nothing in a day. I doubt anyone here needs lectures.

I can usually get a small discount on items after the sale but not as much as when buying a complete new machine.

I am considering a 60" broom and front blade for the x749, just not sure if I want to part with the money in this economy.

Thank you for your response, I do not mind paying full retail if that is a very common thing to do, but do not want to appear foolish by doing so. I do believe in buying from my local Dealer who services machines, rather than a Big Box Store which sells some John Deere accessories. I just wish John Deere would make a Package at a reduced price when it is rather obvious you will need more than just the Snowblower itself. Oh well...................

I would recommend the 54" snowblower for the 4 wheel steer models. Reason: if you install tire chains, you will need rear wheel spacers on the 4ws models for tire chain / steering arm clearance. With the spacers installed, the rear wheel width is wider than 47".
Best of luck!

I appreciate the advice, it sounds like the determining factor in purchasing the 54" over the 47". I primarily bought a X744 to move snow, not for lawn mowing anyway. Again, great advice, Jim

Add to this the fact that you need room for the rear wheels to turn and that will eat up the 54" of space. I would definately go for the 54" blower.
