Anyone know what the differences are between a Wallenstein BX40 chipper vs the newer BX42? Might be selling my DR chipper to my BIL - he borrowed it and really likes it so now he wants one (used). Thinking of selling him mine and looking for a used BX42. However, local Craig's List has a BX40 for sale that I might take a look at. Just don't know what changes Wallenstein made when they came out with the BX42? Does the hopper on the BX40 fold like the 42? Does the chute rotate 360*? Storage could be an issue.

Wallenstein doesn't have manuals for their older chippers on their website (at least that I could find). Thanks

There was a thread on here a while back where the poster mentioned that the older ones didn't have twig breakers, which are a spot at the end of the fan blades that breaks them up to clear them out.

I have the BX42 and it has two chipping blades. This is a guess-maybe the BX40 only hase one chipping blade?

Mine has 4..
Totol beg your pardon! So does mine. How about calling Wallenstein at 1-877-695-9283. Their tech department is great.

Well I called Emb mfg (Wallenstein) today and talked with someone in Tech Support. Had a really bad connection and I could hardly hear him, but he did tell me the BX40 had a 20" rotor and the BX42 has a 25" rotor. BX40 had 3 blades; BX42 has 4. He also told me the BX42 is i-match compatible while the BX40 wasn't. Couldn't make out anything else he said unfortunately. Anyway, thought I'd pass the info on. Leaning toward ordering a new BX42 or just holding out for a used one to come up for sale locally. My DR chipper is sold to my BIL pending me finding a BX chipper
