I'll throw my 2 cents at this - Whenever a tractor is shut off everything should be lowered to the ground so if the valve levers move nothing else does. On a backhoe, the transport lock can be used - but resting it on earth is safe and easy.

Please read and remember J_J's advice...It would be a good idea to release all the hyd so all booms, etc are on the ground for safety.

ALWAYS lower implements to the ground...you just never know...kids could come around and push a lever...while one of them was under the suspended implement.

That's how I ended up with 4 holes in my foot when I was kid.:thumbdown::shocked:Another reason is holding pressure in the system is wear and tear on the hoses, valving, seals and pivots. Still mainly for safety though ... Loader forks or bucket on the ground, nothing to walk into at head level. Would you leave a rake laying on the ground tines up ??
