I hope this doesn't screw me in the long run. I can certainly understand Yanmar wanting to break free of the CC name. But if my local dealer decides not to sign on as a Yanmar dealer I'm up the creek unless somone else local picks up the Yanmar line. In which case I have to hope they treat me as if I am their customer.

I'm not happy at the moment.

Dam.....that happened pretty quickly. Seems like the typical immature Cub Cadet bashing perhaps hurt them on a national level.
Guess I better buy that LX490 before it changes color!

Sure wish I'd have seen this before I went to the dealer today because I'd have asked them if they're going to sign on with Yanmar. They've had my tractor since Tue but haven't been able to check it out yet to see what's leaking. They did say they know their is problem somewhere because of the puddle of hydraulic fluid on the floor under the tractor. I hope the split of CC and Yanmar works out in everyone's favor. They do make one heck of a good tractor, except for the one I bought which has all the stupid stuff going wrong with it.....:D.....Bill

I was a little concerned myself, however when I saw that my dealer wasn't all that concerned my fears were eased. He thinks that it may help in the long run. It will be interesting to see how many Yanmar dealers just pop up overnight! If they do change to Red and Cream colors I will certainly miss the black and yellow. Hey Scout, I bet they have some nice deals coming up on the remaining CCY tractors....including the LX490.

Yes, I would think things shouldn't change drastically. I feel sorry for Cub,....they had a few bad models and their reputation just got mutilated. I've had numerous Cubs for the last 15 years and always had fantastic luck.

I'm thinking the same on the good deals to come....only problem is I need to sell my 6284 first. Think I'll list it on here, I bought it new, only has 25 hours on it, with loader, mower, blower, plow.....great package deal for someone!

Relax you guys. Those of us over in the Yanmar forum are quite aware we are orphans and we really don't have a problem with that. The tractors are bulletproof.

Now with Yanmar corp becoming a direct participant in the market, your support should improve. I can see why someone would want dealer support for the length of the warranty but once you get any new-equipment bugs worked out your Yanmars should run for years trouble free. That has been our experience.

My first Yanmar is now 30 years old. I bought it in 2003 looking shabby because it had been parked outdoors for decades. So far 75 cents for the rollpin that keeps the shift lever in place is the only Yanmar part it has needed in eight years. The starter (Hitachi) is the only non-Yanmar component I can think of that I have replaced, $100 from an Ebay auto electric specialist, no big deal. Oh and the oil pressure sender, $7, a generic Japanese auto replacement part. It hasn't needed even a hose or belt, subsequent to my replacement of that sort of wear item before I put the tractor in service. (We won't talk about 30 year old loader hoses torn off by user abuse, ripping out brush. :D)

I expect most of your present dealers will sign on with Yanmar. Life will go on.

And ... A big welcome to Yanmar owners here who choose to join the existing TBN Yanmar forum!

I ordered some parts a while ago to hook up a set of rear remotes on my SC2400. When my dealer placed my order through Yanmar for the parts on a Monday, he also placed an order through Cub Cadet.

He called me on that Wednesday to let me know the parts were in. When I went on Saturday of the same week to pick up my parts, he said that he was still waiting for the Cub Cadet order. He made the comment that the Yanmar guys are on the ball as he can normally get his orders from Yanmar in a day or two. Where as Cub it seems to take a week or so.

While talking to the parts guy, he said the reps from Yanmar are pretty good folks. He said they spent all day one day changing out some parts on the tractors they had on the lot. It sounds like my dealer is quite happy with the Yanmar folks so I can only assume that he would sign on with Yanmar.

anyone in this business could have seen this comming from a mile away. MTD has used virtually every tractor compact to build their compacts. They jump from one to the next year after year after year.
