Kubota L3130 HST
Hey Guys,
I just bought a used 06 Kubota L3130 HST, but it didn't come with any manuals so I'm just alittle lost. I have pretty much figured out what all the knobs and handles do except for one. There is a knob just below the set that say open/close. I'm not sure what this does so I was hopeing someone could help me out.
Thanks

I guess you mean just below the seat,, that is your drop rate valve. with an implement on the back, depending on the weight of the implement it may fall too fast when you lower the 3 point lift. you can close the valve a bit to make it lower slower. If it falls too slow , then you open the valve a bit.. by the way if the valve will not move, spray some penetrating oil and let it set on the valve stem. They rust sometimes and wont move. If you close the valve too much either on purpose or accidently, your implement wont drop down at all. It will go up but just stay there when you lower the lift.

Thanks for the response. I'm going outside right now and give it a try. I've always wanted a nice tractor and I finally got one, time to enjoy.:D

That is a great tractor and you will definitely enjoy it. Does it have any attachments you are starting to learn how to use?

I believe the Operator Manual says to close or lock that when transporting equipment also and no I don't, just an FYI as to its use in addition to drop rate.

I got a manual for the tractor now so think I got it figured out.
The tractor came with a L723 loader and a Rhino 72" box blade. I want to purchase a bushhog and a finish mower, I just don't know
which one to get. I tried a little with the box blade yesterday and man that thing is tough to work with!:( I think i will need alot more practice. :D I really love my tractor so far.

I recommend Woods bush hogs and finish mowers.

Have fun with the new tractor and be safe.:D

A hydraulic top link really helps with a box scraper.

We use Land Pride and Woods cutters; Bush Hog makes really good ones; Rhino I think also. For less money King Kutter is an option.

Buy them both used!!!

This mainly depends on what you are cutting... finishing mowers are great but they don't do very well in very tall thick (heavy weeds). Once you get it cut down, you can maintain with a finishing mower (as long as the field doesn't get ahead of you.)

I bought a old somewhat worn out brush hog for $250. I use it to find all the rocks and stumps with it :ashamed:. Then a year later, I found a used Bush Hog Finishing mower for $750 and it's a tank but it has trouble with super think stuff... so first I knock it down with the bushhog and follow up with the finishing mower so it looks nice.

It's a learning curve... lots of older threads you can read about how it "should" be done but you have to use it and make your own adjustments to see how they change what the BB can do.
