Actually you are correct

Found this at a guys house, he use to be a big ammo collector along with other gun related items.

He said it attached to a Thompson, the bore looks correct but is very heavy to hold in hands. The only thing I could find is talk on the Internet about tank crews using them against close range infantry targets and would fire out the top of a turret. This guy did say he heard/thought it was for an armored vehicle application.
So it may of attached to a ring of some sort. It is definitely military and definitely gun related, it has a HD military type/color finish.

The Ruskies had guns to shoot around corners for street fighting in WW2, but they were a dedicated weapon, not a clamp on.

Actually it was the Germans who had the corner gun in WWII. They actually had one at the Ordnance museum in Aberdeen MD. That museum is presently moving to Virginia.

After a quick search of the internet I cannot find any referrence to this Thompson device. Did it go by any particular name? Is there a manufacturer on it? I am not questioning its' authenticity I am only interested in knowing more about it.

psj12----You are correct. The United States and Great Britian provided most of the ordinance to the USSR. Many a Merchant Marine died while crossing the Atlantic, providing aid to the Russians.The Russians did have some renowned snipers though. A large majority of the Russian snipers were women and they were tough. Happy Tractoring.
