Yeah, right on with the 7.3l PSD. Can't really go wrong with any year, just as with anything though, some years are better than others.
As for the 6.0l, some either have tons of problems, or none.
I have a friend with an 04 F550 4x4 dump truck 6.0, tons of problems since the day he got it.
While I have another friend with over 220k on his 06 6.0 F350 SRW with no problems with the motor, getting it rebuilt now however just as a precaution. It is easy for him to rebuild it now as it's in the middle of it's 5th tranny rebuild. He said that automatic transmission is the worst part of that truck, but he can't break the engine. He doesn't do too much towing, but does put max and overloaded payload in the bed quite a bit. He is a commercial fisherman.
Go for the 7.3l and you won't be gambling, or wishing you got another motor for that matter. Same with the 5.9 cummins.
