We got 3 new what I call Starliners in at the dealership. They are Freightliner FL80's with non-emissions DDEC III engines and super heavy duty Allison automatics. They have a Freightliner hood with a Western Star Cab. They are painted Desert Storm tan with armor plate under the cabs and LED lights all around. Honest to goodness double round headlights (in each side) stuffed with LED's. Expensive, no doubt but there is nothing too expensive for taxpayers to pay for......:D

I'm surprised that they don't have Marmon front ends. I expect trucks like that to be all wheel drive and they aren't.

Killer camelback spring suspension with leaves 1" thick and 488 rears. Probably a 56 mph top speed flat out....if you can stay in the seat.....

The least expensive method I've found to get the haze off headlights is a good abrasive tooth paste. It takes some rubbing but it works.
That's what I used on my '93 Dodge Caravan a few years ago.
Worked fine, starting to dull again so I'll do it again. I did use several paper towels doing it, so the cost is probably around at least 20 cents for several dabs of toothpaste and the towels.

No prob here!

Again, by the time this happens, the car is quite old and you can't expect them to last forever. The "wash, rinse, repeat" cycle would only be if you kept cars for 20 yrs or so...

And a lot of the cars over 20 years old NOW (like my '88 Ford) have glass headlights.

I sure liked the 'good old days' when headlights were headlights, not naked bulbs covered with a plastic lense that degrades.

When a headlight burned out, you replaced it and got a new lense.......

Progress is actually regress. Gimme the old 6011-6013 sealed beams....:)

I am with you. I have a 93 f150. Only one headlight has been replaced and that was due to a wreck about 12 years ago. The lights still look and function just fine.

........and the lense is real, by gosh glass. How original.

Giving my age away, I remember the '63 Jaguar XKE Coupe. My friend had one. Back then the Jag for the European market had areodynamic (plastic sculpted) headlight covers but in this country, the DOT deemed them unsafe so they came imported into this country without. Just plain old round sealed beams...with plain old optical grade glass lenses.

Like I said progress is sometimes regress.

I had a 66 Vette, 427/390 convertible with offroads. Milano red with tan leather interior and like Jan and Dean sang in their song... All the Jag could see were my 6 tail lights.......:D

What do I drive now...A Caddy Seville.

I have a friend who races a rally car. The plastic lights just don't handle it well so they buy glass lights from Europe for the cars. They look identical and use the same bulbs except, of course, being made out of glass.
