Help... inherited 8n... no Idea how to drive

on the fuel sed bowl unde rthe tank there is a valve, er... when it left the factory there was.

Errr, likewise to the button on the gear shifter...it may not work either. although this is a restored machine. But then there are the assumptions again..

he said the starter buzzed.. that means the solenoid is chattering from low voltage / current... which means it did try to engage, thus meaning the starter button is working.. etc.

Correct on the buzzing, probably bat connection or bad, weak battery. On fuel cutoff, under the tank. Screw it out a couple turns and watch bowl fill with gas, should see it swerll or push sediment around. If not screw it all the way out and go on reserve to see if you get gas to carb then. At least that was the original type fuel filter operation. As to a Manual, I never have even seen one for my 8n?? I do have a small repair book, and visit the net if distressed?

there is a parts manual, 2 service manuals ( oem and after market I&T ), and an owners manual available for the 8n.

ont he fuel issue, i think I'd also pull the bowl drain on the carb itself and let it pee into a glass jar to see if there is a good flaor or any water / sediment in the carb itself.

Dirt daubers usually fill up the pee hole, so i have to screw it out and put a small piece of wire up into the cast-iron bowl on the carb. This is probably caused by running the gas out of the carb. at day's end?

i'm not sure how dirt daubers would fill up the pee hole as it normall has a plug in it!

I'm talking about the bowl drain.. not the excess overflow!

So am I? Come to think of it i threw the plug away years a go and put in a brass petcock to make it easier to daily drain the carb. That was the hole i refered to ,in the pet-cock. Forgot it was not standard, but it was pretty handy.On another note, did you forget to turn off the gas valve and go back to puddle?
