Ray and John,

There is an adjustment for max travel adjustment of 3 point using the feed back arm. I'll post it tomorrow with details as I've got things to take care off like feeding my kids, wife is working tonight.:)

Do you know there is an adjustment for that? I don't have the fix in front of me, but I bet someone else can walk you through the adjustment procedure.
Your up travel goes too far and it is simple to correct.

Roy, JB and oldford1700,

I hope I'll be answering the question Roy and JB had. Pic below shows the lift arm handle and the bracket it rides on. There is a lower stop that is adjustable and there is another high stop that is notched and adjustable also. You set it to to limit both travel based on max lift adjustment.

Setting desired height and max lift adjustments are two different things.

pic below shows the lift arm and a feed back arm on a pivot that internally attaches to lift spool valve. The spool is open center meaning at any given position(height) once achieved the rest of flow would be diverted back to reservoirs. The feed back arm does exactly that so you can lift it where you want and feed back arm relives the valve to the center and arm would stop where you want.

The link arm can be separated from the feed back right at the pivot point. Notice the nut that ties them together is welded and tightening nut on the outside. in other word there is no way to adjust unless you separate the joint.

The key is the longer the rod higher the max lift and shorter the rod lower the lift will be. I needed to keep my lift to max that I can to use my landscaping rake better.

in order to adjust , I took the feed back arm off and without any load on 3 point turned the tractor on. At this point the arm will go up without stop till it reaches the max. At that point all you can do is to turn the tractor off as it will hit the pressure relief and the lift starts squealing like a pig because it does not know where to stop.(Ie. no feed back arm).

I then took my handy dremmel tool and put couple of witness mark enabling me to know where exact physical height I can raise the lift. I then adjust up or down (made the feed back shorter or longer) to raise the lift just a smidgen lower than the max lift and put all together.

Be warned about getting your finger pinched. if you take the flat rod that ties the link to lift arm and manipulate it then it will lower the lift arm. it is internally manipulates the lift spool. Pushing it to the right actually relives pressure from the spool valve.

Roy and JB, I hope this was what you guys were asking.

Any pointers on the lift piston seal replace? I will go dig up my service manual and check out the process today then head on in to town for parts.

Also in my manual it looks like the big filter is under a plate basically right under the seat. Is my interpretation correct?

We have a vineyard and harvested this weekend. I need to get some meldewcide on ASAP - we didnt want to spray the grapes although it's supposed to be OK.

Thanks for all the help with the other problem. I was recovering from colon cancer and doing chemo and trying to maintain our business (no disability for the self emoloyed). In retrospect that chemo messes you up worse than I thought. All better now, no cancer for nearly a year after surgery.

I feel for you my friend and wish you all the best specially with the chemo. I have a dear friend in Minnesota that is battling this ugly disease and having a heck of the time with the chemo. My wife and I went up there for a visit and it was a difficult situation. Just keep it up and fight this dang disease. My buddy ended up losing his colon:(. He has done everything right in his life and still could not escape it. I'll be glad to assist however I can. The filter is actually in the rear diffy and it is actually a cleanable screen. I see that you found my other thread. Any place you got stuck or have question by all means send a PM and I try to help.

Wish you a quick and complete recovery:)
