Snowblower chute rotater

Very nice. I'd install a metal cover over the worm gear. I believe you'll find that snow and ice will jam the open gearsert.

No problem. You did a very nice install and I like the orange paint.:D

I have a large Lucknow (84") double auger but it has a hydraulic cylinder chute rotator.

Very nice. You have a clean design, looks factory. Much better than torqing around in the seat to manually crank it! What is the motor from...Old wiper motor?

5030 You sent Me back to the drawing board, this was the best I could do.

Looks good to me. Add a top shield over the worm actuator at the chute end and call it good. The worm is where you'll get the ice and frozen snow buildup.

My Lucknow uses a braided steel cable fastened to the chute running over an oversized bellcrank actuated by a double acting hydraulic cylinder I've gotten ice/frozen-thawed snow built up on the cable and flange before but the cylinder has enough oooomph to break the chute free.

The more shielding you have, the happier your motor/worm will be. I also presume you installed an inline fuse in the cable connection. That motor with a stalled rotor will pull some serious amperage.

Don't forget to bundle up when blowing snow and wear a woolen face mask. Blowing snow with an open station tractor is an open invitation to frostbite.

Me. I sit in a heated cab with an air ride seat (that swivels), cd in the player and a hot cocoa in the cup holder. There is something awesome about 100 horses blowing snow 150 feet downrange.......stones, branches and the ocassional cinder block notwithstanding.

Now that I'm retired, I think about selling the blower. I no longer need to get out to work when it snows here.

Life is good.....

Oldmopar Motor is from a car window.

5030 I built a cab a couple years ago, it will go on in a few weeks. It was great for plowing and will even be better for snowblowing I am sure.

I like it but what about heat? Gets mighty cold out there in the white stuff??

I wonder if an aftermarket transmission cooler plumbed into the water hose with a 12 volt blower would work??

I agree a heater in the cab would be a plus. When the HST Tran gets warmed up it will draw heat in the cab, not a lot but 15-20 dg warmer than the outside. That in it's self beats sitting out in the wind and blowing snow. Perhaps I'll do some type of a heater unit this winter, plenty of time to do so.
