Any huge advantage of either one on a 48" cutter? I see some small cutters with dual rear wheels but most dualies seem to be on bigger cutters. My application is semi-wooded and somewhat hilly.

The way I see it is that more wheels distribute the load better for the larger heavier equipment. On a 48" mower, I doubt you would see any difference and not worth the extra price

I pull a single wheel 6' and a dual wheel 10' and agree with Gary. I also find the center tail wheel really helpful when mowing road/drainage ditches as the wheel rides the crown and keeps it from scalping.

The dual wheels will, however, keep the edges from digging in on irregular surfaces when mowing close.

All things considered, I prefer single on smaller and multiple on larger; can't say it's "better", I just prefer it.

Agreed:thumbsup:

I would also think the extra wheel would be a nussiance when trying to mow tight areas or making a tight corner. I see catching it on a tree or fence post:confused2:

I live in a really hilly area and my 3 point, single rear wheel BH has saved my butt more than once as I use it as a rear "wheelie bar" when the front tires come off the ground when going up steep areas on my property.

If I had level or rolling ground i would buy a pull behind type with the dual rear wheels. Does a much better cutting job...but oh well.
