Kioti/Bobcat 'deals'

Are you supposed to put the tractor in neutral for a safety reason or is there supposed to be an interlock? I have not been putting tractor in neutral and have been running the backhoe with just the emergency brake set.

Neutral is either the travel pedal(s) on hydro or transmission on gear drive. You do not have shift speed range to neutral, although it is an extra saftey step if you wish. Just enough brake pressure to keep tractor from rolling then lock the brake. Tractor will stay running unless mid-pto is engaged then it will shut off regardless.

Bruce,

I was exactly where you are just back in August 2011. I joined TBN on 10 August 2011, an I had my tractor pretty close to the end of august.

I got down to 3 tractors, CT50, DK50se, and Mahindra's 50HP 4WD HST (forgot the model, 5035 I think).
My advice to you is to look at the 40, 45, and 50 hp HST tractors from Kioti, Bobcat (the ONLY difference is FEL, color, and Dealer). If you can add in Mahindra and Kubota to your selection process.
Thanks for the suggestions and the links David. The "what should I buy" thread was most informative. And several of your posts almost made be wonder if you aren't in my head :)

Mahindra is not an option, closest dealer is about 120 miles. If my tractor needs to see a dealer that would not work. Kubota, JD, Bobcat, Kioti and New Holland all within 20ish miles or less.

Gotta get through the last couple of bureaucratic bits on the property. At this point, probably another 2+ weeks. Then measure a few things so I can get my size boundaries. Like: if the difference between the choices that can do what I *think* I need is "fits in the stall alley or doesn't", I might choose the smaller machine.

Bruce,

You are MOST welcome. TBN has really been educational for me. I'm still a noob, but I can at least point out all the good advice I've been given (and all the stupid questions I've asked...).

I look forward to hearing more about how this all goes for you sir!

Happy Tractor Shopping!

I knew I could not afford JD, I looked at Kubota, and I wish there had been a New Holland nearby. But I love my Kioti...

David
