Having trouble seeing the pic of the damage?!:)
Be careful- the grapple can get one into some trouble- ask me how I know!:D

BTW, I don't think you'd necessarily have to weld the brush guard screen onto the guard- but let's see what teh designer comes up with first.

CM,

Here is the Damage Pic... (I added three more). They are all in another of my threads about clearing land (or breaking the hyd line, or???).

I've already had a thread where I busted a hyd line on the grapple when a 12' cedar came straight back. Tell me your story!

I was thinking about something like heavy duty hose clamps to attach the mesh to the grill guard... Until I learn to weld that is...:)

Maybe I'm seeing different pics but all I see is a firestorm of brush spread out all over, not cedar, no tractor damage pics?
I think you need to make some burn piles, once you perfect MY new brush guard grille!!

Cable ties comes to mind- after all you just need it to be there when the cedars come after the tractor, right?!:) Easy on- easy off! They make big heavy duty cable ties too which would work if it was me. Or you could put a piece of flat stock on the hood side and bolt through with some fender washers and padding to keep the screen and flat stock from scratching the 'not so brush bar'.

My story is about my first Kioti, a DK-35 which I was using in my roadside ditch trying to wrestle a stump and stalk about a foot & 1/2 in dia., when it rolled on me and because I had the front wheels in the ditch I could not go forward, but the log/stump was able to go under the bucket, clear the brush guard and put a huge dent in the hood:( Even though I did not have the grapple then, I was new to tractoring mostly and it cost me a new hood when I went to trade it with the dealer for the DK-40.

CM,
The story of the Hyd line and the cedar is here. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/hydraulics/220210-broke-off-hydraulic-crimp-connector.html the black stuf is the logging "slash" from 5 acres of clearcut and 42 acres of thinning. ~100 log trucks full of timber left my property last Nov. Mostly Loblolly Pine. what you see is the slash (tops and limbs mostly, a few stumps and small trees also) and the black stuff is mostly the primary path the skidder drove bringing the trees to the loader, and the area where the loader sat.

Right now I'm not planning to burn (we shall see though). I am planning to shove it all out to the edges of the treeline and let it rot some more. I want the 5 acre area for horse pasture.

I recently saw bright chrome metal cable ties, that is my other thought for YOUR great Brush Guard idea. I'm a Harley guy, so Chrome is one of my favorite colors...

Got the chance to stop by BTI's dealership in Nelsonville, Ohio this past Monday evening. I really enjoyed talking with him! Anyway, he showed me what he uses for touching up...it looked really good!!!! I'm going to look for this and pick up a can and see with one turns out the best. Once I do, I'll post some more pics for everyone to see and decide themselves.

As promised.....I bought a can of the Duplicolor paint and tried it.

First, let me back up a step.....when I had my grill guard out today working on it in the natural day light, the Rustoleum had a pale tint to it and there was a noticeable difference.

Here are some photos of the Duplicolor paint with the original and the Rustoleum - the first has been edited to show which is which.

The quality of these photos isn't as good as the pics before & that's b/c I'm using my Blackberry vs. my daughter's 15MB Canon camera!!!

Bottom line for me pack - I'm going with the Duplicolor! It is more "orange" than the Rustoleum and so far, the sheen (finish) is more glossy (can I say that??).

I'm still trying to figure out why you guys just don't buy authentic Kioti paint?? All the running around your doing buying cans that don't really match...

I just bought a can of NH white from the dealer for $7.95. The blue is the same price. I would guess the Kioti orange is about the same.

OEM paint- now what fun is there in that? Manufacturers like to keep the secret sauce from the consumer, so we (collectively), take it upon ourselves to outwit them and find a close enough match without having to buy from the dealer(s). Now OEM parts is a whole different horse of yet another color- just ask the guys trying to match up hydraulic filters with aftermarket suppliers:laughing:

@ Sweep....you, my friend, are a conformist! (just kidding)

While I was at Advanced Auto to get brake parts for 1 of my cars I was able to pick up a can of the Duplicolor....and my dealer is 30 miles away so I don't really plan to drive there just to get a can of paint. Besides, when my dealer didn't use Kioti paint to repaint my FEL under warranty, that kind of tells you something, doesn't it? He used a different paint b/c it matched better.

Someone has to find a paint color that will work and "beat" the system.

Just out of curiosity how does a different paint match better than the original paint used when your FEL was painted at the factory?:confused2:
