R.V.propane tank valve failure.

Had the propane tank for the r.v. filled and returned to the holder connected to regulator and there is no pressure. it has the new type valve designed to prevent leakage if tipped.
Was told to set tank on solid surface and tap to free the float inside Have and still will not flow. Also told to shake so fluid would move the float this never worked either. Turned the tank up side down and shook returned to holder and connected no pressure.
What suggestion do you have. Returned to place where filled and they can add propane to tank. Just will not flow pressure to camper or another regulator.

If you turn on the valve too fast it may activate the excess flow cutoff. Try opening the valve very slowly after it is off for a while.

That would be my recommendation, also. But have you tried very slowly opening the valve without it being connected to your pressure regulator? In other words, are you sure it's the propane tank instead of the pressure regulator?

I would also check the line... I had this happen, after much frustration, I found a chipmunk or squirrel ate through the rubber hose... so the safety feature does work

Shoot some compressed air in the line to check.

I had a tank just like this. After it sat around for nearly a year still full but with nothing coming out I took it to our local propane dealer. He had a little device that pushed the ball back into wherever it belongs. Gas comes out just fine now. I am now the proud owner of such a device and am only out $7.95 plus tax. He said, too, to open the valve slowly since if you just crank it on like I have for the last 40 years, the little check ball can hang up in the valve.

Another case of our government protecting us from ourselves.

If there is a "little device" my propane dealer doesn't have it and I have purchased another tank for use in camper and all's well there.
Now the filled tank is still not releasing propane and several people have offered there suggestions. Appears plugged except can add propane into tank. so now a little over filled.
We have tried the old type of propane connector and the new type of connector Have shook the tank lifted and bump dropped the tank turned up side down and rotated on the ground.
So now sitting beside my shop outside is a almost new filled tank of propane unable to use.
I will try any other suggestions but the "little device" makes me interested in locating.

Good suggestion.
Guess could put on hill top and wait for a lightening strike.
But then soon will be deer season and anything is used for a target.Bet that would be a blast.
Saw a John Deere parked in hay field and the brave deer hunter used the emblem on hood to check his rifle.
shot low hit the radiator and block.

I have a mosquito magnet that would occasionally have this problem. They sent me a reset device that will reset both the regulator and the tank.
