It was working great, as always. I turned it off and started it again about 10 minutes later. It kicked in and then died a few seconds later. I turned the key and it happened again. Then I noticed that the fuel indicator needle was spiked at E. I tried again, and this time there were no light at all on the panel. The tractor still starts and dies. I tried it at least 10 times and the same thing kept happening. I'd appreciate any insight.

I'd look first at the fuel filter and empty/clean bowl and install new filter.

You didn't say what maintenance took place before this happened.

How many hours? Did you try adding fuel to the tank? Reason I ask is these machines seem to develop a habit of dropping off the lower portion of the fuel pickup tube in the fuel tank. Mine has reached the point where it runs out of fuel at about a half tank. Problem started at around 900 hours. I haven't got around to pulling it to fix yet- I just keep the tank full.

Didn't run out of fuel. The guage was reading nearly a full tank, which made sense since I had just filled it. I will look at the fuel filter and fuel line, but I would think there has to be some relation to all the electrical going out on the instrument panel.

There's a short that's blowing the fuse for the instrument panel. I'm not sure how to run it down.

drcaseyd have you made any progress on this? I checked the wiring diagram for mine and it looks like a fuse that keeps blowing for your dash will also disable the electric fuel pump and the fuel rack solenoid. The only way I know to isolate the problem is to disconnect all devices on the circuit and check the resistance to ground. If still very low, it's in the harness somewhere. Since the problem started so quickly, do an inspection to see if something chafed a wire.

On my 755, which spent all its time outdoors needed a new key switch. JD parts has them. Not a hard DYI job.
